That's exactly the kind of situation im talking about. thank you

My cousin was just telling me the other day about a new National wanting to colonize on her campus. Her description was "I think they wear blue and gold stuff". So yes, color helps to add an identity to a group. Note, I said "add" not are the most important part.

That being said, our National colors are royal purple and white, but we didn't want to have white shirts (too many stains) and purple got boring so for offical shirts we often used green which we adopted as a local color. It didn't detract from the National colors and was no different to us then ordering an event shirt in orange. We just used it more often.

When NPC groups came to my campus where there were all locals, Alpha Epsilon phi had to do this. The local was green and white and for some reason, the locals were ALL about their colors (they never ordered another color or plaid or anything!)

So, AEPhi added peach and it was white, green and peach which was beautiful.

For a men's group, maybe do a pattern that is symbolic to you or a team and all the brothers get that pattern for the jersey they wear on Big Greek Days or whatever.

Bumping because it was an interesting, yet bitchy sort of read.

And I remember learning that during my new member period! Green for growth, white for fellowship and peach as our local color - to distinguish us from Alpha Theta Beta, the oldest fraternal organization on campus. They were founded just one year after the University was established and are still active today.
