I had to re-register just to reply to this thread, since I've been denied access to post for over month now. This is a sore subject for me.
I live in the largest city in New Hampshire. We have no Starbucks. Nada. None.
There is one at the airport, but it's past security, so if you want a good latte, you need to be leaving town town to get it. A new Target opened in the neighboring town and it has a Starbucks. And the Barnes and Noble "serving Starbucks coffee" cafe doesn't count. A twenty minute drive south to Nashua, NH and you can even get one at the new drive-through Starbucks.
My husband even wrote Starbucks five years ago to encourage the company to open in our city. He got a form letter that said "Manchester, NH is not in our expansion plans."

I can't find the exact article, but this one has the same facts that made me give up my Brownie Frappuccinos - 23 grams of Saturated Fat!

There are only 5 by me. I don't drink coffee very often, so I often feel stupid when I go into a Starbucks and try to wade through how to order a basic drink.

I went to Starbucks store locator and found we have 7 in our area within 10 miles of my zip code. Though 3 of them are in Target stores....

Supposedly people can measure how "nice" your neighborhood is by the number of Starbucks there are in it. The higher the number, the more vibrant (or something like that) and probably expensive it is within the area.
Also, the more storage units you have in an area, the higher the likelihood that area will become expensive in the future.

I just checked out the website - apparently there are 62 within a 5 mile radius of my apartment, and 63 within a five mile radius of my office. That's more locations than I thought.

Today when I went to Starbucks, a guy robbed it. At least I have a good story to illustrate the elements of robbery on my Crim Law exam.
