The impression I got is that the person in question and Kappa Sigma have severed all ties with one another...basically that he will no longer be recognized as a member of their organization.
As a member of the Greek community at USC let me say this is not the way most greeks feel. I am appalled that someone would voluntarily degrade themselves, their school and worst of all their fraternity like that. I am willing to bet that the people making these comments have very few if any friends that are not white and have never had a real conversation with anyone outside of their own race. I went to high school with one of the brothers of Omega Psi Phi at USC and I am happy for them...as a matter of fact the only way I would be happier is if we were the ones getting a house (but our time will come soon enough). I do wonder what this incident will do for the fraternities on campus for spring and fall rush, especially since the University office has not mentioned any specific groups and has just referred to the people as members of the greek community. As a member of the newest fraternity on campus and one who is trying to grow and get our charter I am worried that potential members could be turned off by this whole situation. On another note it is people like these who cause people from outside the South to look down on Southerners.
