i dont think i ever use any of the terms listed when refering to a drink. i just say that i want a dr. pepper, sprite, pepsi, etc. if asking someone, i say "what would you like to drink?" or "would you like a _______ (fill in name of drink)?"

Coke.
I had never heard it called anything else until I moved away to college. I remember the first time I heard someone call it "pop" and I thought it was absolutely hysterical.

Every time this discussion comes up, I remember the little mom & pop store near a school I worked in. They had a big ole sign in front that read:

Even after four years of school in an area where 80-100% of respondents on the map call it pop, I never changed 
But now, I don't drink any of it

It's Coke or Co-Cola...
Co-Cola is Coke only. Coke can be used to describe any soft drink.

If it is a co-coaler, that's a Coca Cola.
Me: I'll have a Coke.
Serve: We don't have Coke, is Pepsi okay?

Ditto. Pepsi is tastes sweet for me. I know it's really not that much different from Coke, but I just feel like I need to scrape my tongue after drinking it. No wonder some people call it robot sweat.

Usually soda, but my husband says pop and I catch myself falling into his bad habits all the time!
