Yes. Any group that does not have at least .4572% representation on GreekChat.com will never be able to colonize at Ole Miss or LSU.

I didn't know Kappa Sigma withdrew. (Knew Phi Delta Theta did, though.) When/why?

It was at least a year ago, although I can't remember exactly. I also sent you a PM.

Kappa Sigma Withdraws from NIC
by Mitchell B. Wilson, Executive Director
Dec 12, 2002
Quote:
Dear Kappa Sigmas,
I am writing this letter to provide explanation to the Chapters of Kappa Sigma Fraternity concerning the decision of the Supreme Executive Committee to withdraw from the North-American Interfraternity Conference. For several years, there has been extensive discussion in regard to the focus of the work and priorities of the North-American Interfraternity Conference to represent the interests of the member organizations of the Conference. There has been great concern that instead of being an advocate for the college fraternity system the North-American Interfraternity Conference has established the majority of its focus on the development of educational programs for undergraduates. Kappa Sigma Fraternity places great emphasis on educational programming for undergraduates, but we already offer provide these same leadership programs to our undergraduate Chapters and the NIC sponsored programs were a duplication of effort from which we derive no direct benefit. In the meantime, our dues to the North-American Interfraternity Conference were more than tripled through legislation passed by the NIC in 2001. The decision of Kappa Sigma to withdraw from the North-American Interfraternity Conference was for philosophical reasons as to what the Conference should represent and it was a business decision.

Congratulations to the men of Kappa Sigma. Y'all must be doing something right. Here are some accomplishments for 'em in 2004.
Kappa Sigma Breaks Another Record
Quote:
A record 3,813 men pledged, representing a 10% increase over last fall's record of 3,466.
A record 2,647 men initiated, representing a 65% increase over last fall's record of 1,603.
A record 12 colonies established, bringing our biennium total to a record 31.
Six new chapters installed, bringing our biennium total to 12 and many more on the way.
A 7% reduction in the undergraduate liability coverage management assessment and insurance premium.
Nearly $1,000,000 raised for the new Kappa Sigma International Headquarters, bringing our fundraising total to almost $5,000,000. The groundbreaking was this past September.
As of November 30, there were ZERO chapters on financial probation, the first time this has happened in many years.
Kappa Sigma continues to have the lowest costs to members in the fraternal world.
