Another question: do your badges have a little gold loop on the back of them? Does it have a particular purpose or is it just part of the design of the badge?

It may not be tradition at your chapter, but in my chapter everyone wore chapter-letter guards. The gold loop is to attach the chain for the pin guard.

We wear guards too, but there doesn't seem to be any way to hook the chain onto the loop without bending that part of the chain.

When I bought my original badge, back when the earth was still cooling, if you ordered a chapter letter guard, they attached it to the loop on the back of the badge.

I recently took it to my local jeweler and had them put a clasp on the little chain so that I can take off the guard and wear the badge on my necklace adapter - or put the guard back on and wear it "full regalia," with all my dangles!

Is there a website cataloging all the different dangle options? I would like to get some for people as gifts. But I don't know what all the options are.

Questions:
What is the purpose of/who should get:
-Anchor recognition pin
-Monogram recognition pin
-Senior bridge pin (I'm guessing it's for graduating seniors, but would I be right?)
-Sponsorship dangle (is that an officer position?)
Is the Mother's Pin for mothers of Delta Gammas (i.e. I would buy it for my mom, say as a Mother's Day gift), or is it for DG's whose daughters pledge?
Is it wrong of me to want a Pi Alpha pin, just for nostalgia purposes? (Not that I would wear it--just as a keepsake!)

Now that I have seen this link, I absolutely MUST own all three of those Christmas ornaments. If you want to buy me one as a present, PM me for my address.

I bought a pledge pin right after I initiated, and still have it. I'd never wear it, of course, but that period was very special. I still have my pledge ribbons, too ... the ones we wore from bid day (Friday, IIRC) until our pledge ceremony on Sunday or Monday.

I also know of one DG who may have bought it for her M.I.L. as that DG's own mother (who coincidentally also was a DG) was deceased. I thought this was a beautiful gesture, particularly as the M.I.L. had essentially become like a "2nd mother" to her.

Not at all - I bought one and I have it as a keepsake. I quite like our Pi Alpha pin, in its simplicity. I like the white and gold together. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the only "person" who would wear the Pi Alpha and the initiates' badge AT THE SAME TIME, would be on a Hannah doll. I guess you pin them on to your Hannah doll so that the badge & pledge pin do not get lost?

eta: The story of "Hannah" wearing both pins at the same time can be found here:
