TMBG's career trajectory brought them to writing theme songs for Disney morning kids' shows, if that gives more weight to their nerdiness at all...

Have to say, I was disappointed they didn't break into any of those songs.

You win. Hands down, the Lambda fanbase have one seriously high nerd population!

Given that I am a self proclaimed geek...and play a game like Kingdom of Loathing...

I feel safe to say the following have a very high geek/nerd/dork fan base:
TMBG - the "unofficial" Official band of KoL
Weird Al
I am going throw in someone that you probably haven't heard of, but I love his music and was introduced to his music through KoL...MC Frontalot, the God-Father of Nerd Core Hip Hop, the guy is pretty damn good and I have all his cds and saw him live in PHX in Sept.

See my siggy below but I am more than just a greek geek

Weird Al seems pretty nerdy. One of his latest: "Ebay" http://youtube.com/watch?v=HYokLWfqbaU

It's funny.

Ween is not a nerd band. No way.

....and Zappa was a no drugs kind of guy.

I'm guessing that's Raffi. Glad to hear he's still around, my kids adored him.

Really? Ween's fanbase isn't nerd-friendly? Not that they're as dorky as TMBG, but I feel like their fanbases overlap, at least in my experience . . .

Re: Zappa - I meant more "hippy" than actual drug user, but that might be more the people I know who like Zappa than his fans overall, no doubt.
