At the end of Animal House, the greek letters DTX are on the house and the T falls off, leaving just DX (Delta Chi) which is a real fraternity. Any coincidence?
I heard that there was a Delta Chi and a Delta Tau Delta that had something to do with the movie, and that they merged the names to get Delta Tau Chi.

And if you look it changes to Delta Chi Tau in another part of the movie too.

Another thing that is also very similar, is Delta Chi's Crest and the Crest of Delta Tau Chi I cant find a pic of both to show

And just to make things even weirder look at the packaging for the Bluto Action Figure that was recently released.

Why does bluto's head block out the Tau ? and it only says Delta Chi ???

Not Delta Tau Delta

DTD is a fine fraternity, but that's not the one 'Animal House' is based on. An old but small national fraternity named Alpha Delta Phi has/had a chapter at Dartmouth, and alumnus Chris Miller wrote the book based on his experiences as an Alpha Delt there in the early 1970s.

Does anyone remember the letters of the fraternity and sorority in The Butterfly Effect? I was pretty sure the fraternity was made up, but at the time I thought the sorority may have been real.

Sometimes They're Real

1) The fraternity in "The Graduate" (Dustin Hoffman 1967) was Theta Delta Chi at Stanford or UCLA or USC (?). A big Theta Delt banner hung outside the house.
2) Saturday Night Live had a series of skits where the girls wore Tri-Delt t-shirts.
3) In "Three in the Attic" (1960's romance) main character Paxton Quigley lived in the ATO house at U-North Carolina
4) There was some movie with a young James Caan as a college football player who was injured and basically turned out of school. In a flashback he was shown having a Sigma Chi pledge pin placed on his chest in a candlelight ceremony.

I beleive the Theta Delta Chi house is actually on the Cal-Berkeley campus. "The Graduate" takes place in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

I remembered something else too, in the song at the end of animal house they refer to Delta Tau Chi, as the guys of Delta Chi

Huh??? What is the greek system like there that makes the movie fit the stereotypes but not the reality? Sorry, that is confusing me.

And, as for the Tri-kappa.... Am I the only one who is really surprised that anyone would form a sorority or fraternity with those letters?

Hmm. I just thought the writers of Legally Blonde were spoofing Delta Zeta. I mean pink& green and if you turn N on its side you have Z!I feel bad about Delta Nu being changed from Chi O, but I am sure the entire NPC was having problems during the civil rights movements. I mean how do you regulate a national org. when the country is so divided? Just a thought. I think those girls should take pride in taking a stand!

Actually, Elle is a DG in the novel, not a Chi O.

Honey, you didn't read the whole conversation. I said I thought it was supposed to be Delta Zeta in the movie.

The part about Chi Omega is that there REALLY is a sorority called Delta Nu that broke off from Chi O!
