Getting back to the topic: It angers me knowing the government feels it needs to run the lives of families. It's enforcing this code of moral beliefs through the courts, the FCC, clinics and charities.

Well, I think that this "polish" is a bunch of crap, but that's just me.
I think that the government has been trying to impose its moral code on families for a while now, and Bush is just making it worse.

Yes, you have a right to do that and to believe what you want. Its not what I believe, or what I would choose for myself, but it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
HOWEVER, those biological parents ALSO have a right to raise their child, no matter what their financial situation is! "Polish" is not a legitimate legal reason to deprive a child of her family. Nor, I would argue, is it a moral one.
These parents did not understand the ramifications of what they were getting into. The foster parents and the foster agency took advantage of their inexperience and lack of legal counsel. This is an injustice, plain and simple.

There is nothing more important than love. You can compensate for a lack of polish later in life. Good luck compensating for unloving parents. I also challange you to find any religion that places polish, as a prioruty, over love.

Many Convent schools were also, to a certain extent, finishing schools (as were many Protestant ladies' colleges). The girls who attended these schools were expected to go to morning prayers/chapel on a daily basis as well as learn rules of being proper, etc.

I went to a school and attended morning Mass - it had nothing to do with etiquette. You know not of what you speak.

I do too, although the ones with birds are pretty cool. I wonder if they were made in an upstanding, religious environment.

It is pretty shiny. I think I like the windmill because I'm a bad female.

Rudey, I'm sorry but I can't give you a gold star for sarcasm appreciation today. The gold star was nice and polished too.
