I would just like to add that I don't like post whores and that they annoy me.

Oh, and for once I am not being sarcastic.

There was no good reason to delete my "have you ever" thread. There's many other threads with high post counts. If there was a problem with certain members posting back to back, then those posts should've been deleted, not the whole thread.

I think it's a possability with this software to not show post counts. Something like that might actually be helpful.

ALSO...

Theres a chance the person who created the thread deleted their initial post.

It could /has happened.

That means I am now down -2 posts. Big Whoop. Seriously, NONE OF US should really care that much about posts. Honestly, theres NO difference between 5,241 posts and 4,878 posts. It all equates to the fact that none of us have lives, myself included.

I, along with many others, lost a significant about a posts through the deletion of the word association thread. That's really the only thing I'm upset about. Sure the thread provides some boredom relief but so do half the other threads in the chit chat forum. I just think that out of all the threads that have been locked or deleted this thread is one that people should be least upset about.

Also, it may not have been a mod who did it. Like Lifesaver said, whoever started the thread may have deleted his/her post which causes the whole thread to vanish.

Who CARES about the number of posts they have. That's just plain silly.

I came late to the game and gee, I posted twice in a row!!! OH MY GOODNESS!

I doubt Dionysus would delete the thread. I could be wrong of course.

I didn't realize we were in a "at risk" situation with bandwidth...

Sure, no biggie that two rather innocent threads were wiped of the face of our little cyber universe, but it's the principle that seems to be the rub.

Not that I'm losing sleep over this, but more so just a wonder....

how come pointless threads don't get deleted? There are post whores and then there are starting-thread whores. If it's a matter of making more space on the forums or whatever, why not delete some of those?

Again, not losing sleep. Just at work terribly bored.

While this is news to me, I knew nothing about it.

An individual cannot delet an entire thread unless they are a Mod on that Site.

An individual cannot even delet the post they made unless a Mod on that thread. They can edit it for contnet only.

As a Mod, I never delet a thread unless it is spaming or the original poster as me to. But here again, as a Mod, I can only do that if on one of my threads.

I have been asked to do this and had to defer to John and have him do it.

If there has been a serious problem in one of my site threads, I try to get some input from the other Mods be for so doing. I think that might be the best tact to take instead of someone just deleating a thread at a whim.

This has caused nothing but problems and some anger. I as a Mod apologize for this happening.

I too would like to know who and why. I hope this is not the first step to lets burn the books that we do not like!

I think it comes down to a quesiton of who gets to decide what threads are wastes of space?

I initially thought this wasn't so bad. The more I think about it, the more I don't like it. I'm with Tom on this one. I think this was just a single very irresponsible act. I hope it's not an indicator of things to come.

You never really know.

She could have deleted it but I'm not sure, but I won't say "I doubt" as I have no clue.

You'd be surprised at how much space 2000 pages of a post could free up on a server, being "at risk with bandwidth" or not. Remember, we aren't charged a penny for using this site, it is all paid for by John. So it wouldn't really matter if we were at risk or not because we arent paying for it to begin with.

It's easy to take for granted the things certain people (John) do for us. Let's think about that for a second here.

And if we're gona bitch about post whores, check out Arya's "In this thread"....

ETA: I feel the need to clear myself up here so people don't "get pissed at me"... I"m not bitching about those threads being deleted. I just asked a question. I have other things to worry about.

Then why wasn't "Random" deleted?
