by the way, does anyone remember the show "Dinosaurs"?? C'mon
Although, I'll admit, that show did freak me out a little bit, it was still really funny.

I remember the beach-driven brand name phase that went on for a while- Stussy, Mossimo (now owned by Target and less expensive... I loved Mossimo), Rusty, etc. My high school used to have Stussy sales once a month and EVERYONE went on their free Saturday...

Can't forget about the music (that I still love): Toad the Wet Sprocket, the Cranberries, Gin Blossoms, Better than Ezra...

And of course, the greatest movie of all time (at least for those of us at the right age in this generation): EMPIRE RECORDS! I adore that movie and I know a lot of you on GC are still in love with it too.

Wasn't something I ever got into or ever will, but I remember in the late 90s when huffing and inhaling household products to get high was a trend. Stupid trend, yes, but I knew a few people who did it. Glad I dont know them anymore...

Oooooooo! How about the box hair cut!!!! It was a thick helmet of African American hair that was perfectly shaped and sometimes went into a point at the front. The Cosby spin off "Different World". . .I love seeing the reruns on Oxygen!!!!

Ohhhhhh memories. . .

LOL

Although I've never heard that, maybe it's true- the clothes were just as lame as every other related clothing brand... who knows?

edited to add: Ren & Stimpy.

Actually, Weird Al has been writing and performing since the 70s; his "breakout" hits were parodies of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" (his was Another one rides the bus) and The Knack's "My Sharona (his song was My Bologna)

His career really peaked in the 80s, with all of his Michael Jackson and Madonna parodies, and his movie UHF.

He's still around and performing. I went to one of his concerts about 3 weeks ago - he's really good in concert. He's got a different costume for each song. And he's still writing new stuff.

Ren and Stimpy are back, on Spike TV (formerly TNN). They had been making new episodes but they were so bad that they're now just showing the old ones.

Maybe this was just my elementary school though!

Oh man I am SO glad I was not the only one who fell victim to this trend! I can't even imagine why I ever thought it looked good but I had SO many of those shirt clips, it was insane!

Ok so I didn't read through this whole thread but I just remembered.....when I was in 6th grade or so MOSSIMO was *the* brand to have and my mom wouldn't buy me a tshirt. I was also the class POG champion. Ok well I was the girl champion anyway, some kid named David always beat me though.

Smiley I totally remember that Stussy rumor too haha!

Try beating this one: I got all the Baby Sitters CLub books, a ton of the Little Sister Books, Sweet Valley High, Twins and even some of the SV Kids books, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, etc. I have since put them away to make room for other books but I still have them around....and yes, I have seen the Baby Sitters vidoe's and I even had the board game...I saw the movie the first or second night it came out!

Didn't HBO have a BSC show as well? I seem to recall watching a few episodes for the little while that my parents had HBO (before they found out what comes on after 9)
