Off topic for a second, Oneplus. I understand your concern over budget cuts, it sucks to hear that our lame duck governor's approach to budget cuts means slashing medicaid and higher education. Unfortunatly I don't see much hope for change in any of the candidates running for governor.

Back on topic, unfortunatly, UMASS Amhearst does have a stereotype of being joiners rather than leaders. A large number of students from my high school go there and to put it nicely, they are rather apathetic.

I guess for my advice I'm going to jump off the bandwagon a little. I would say that your first priority should be strengthening your in-house relations. If the rest of the greek world is going to screw around, let them. You are only part of a greek community during college but these men are your brothers for life. Don't let the others bring you and your house down.

You guys need to lighten up. An article in 'higher education' or something like that. Talked about the milenial generation. The article said that our generation and the kids coming up are looking for home when they go away to school. (or will be) The world isn't safe and people want to reach out and make it small again. After 9/11 where did people go, we went to our sorority house and were with eachother, esp for those from NYC. When war seemed to be the next step and the military was deployed where did people turn, their houses. The article talked about GLO's and Special interest orgs becoming the trend. GLO's have to get out of the 80's party mentality embrace the family and philanthropy and they can survive. Don't be so down on it. Go after the maybe joiner group. I go to a small Lib arts and we have to fight for our image, but we get quality women, who want to find a home. not for four years, but for life. our symbol is the anchor, and AST is for a lot of us. It is where we go. Sell that. not the beer.
