Things have been rather BLAH! Mardi Gras is in full swing, but things just feel so aimless.

HIGHS-Everyone is currently healthy-no bugs. Some nice parties to attend. Think we may have seen the coldest days and sunshine lies ahead. Reservations at my favorite restaurant for V-day! YEAH!

LOWS-I am a procrastinator at heart. I do NOT want to get out there and beg for free stuff.(The clock is ticking!) Need to hire ANOTHER new assistant!!! Good grief, why can't we find a good one? Is it so hard to show up on time? I can't believe the work ethic of some people...
About the only things that DIDN'T die in the freeze were the WEEDS! I want some sunshine so I can get out in the yard and sweat!

Okay ya'll, I have to do the lows first, so I can end on a high! LOL!

Lows - I am with you on the sunshine thing Justamom! My children have been out of school every Friday for the past month due to bad weather, and it's my only day to get things accomplished without them! Grrr! Plus, I've been trying to have lunch with my AXO friends for forever, but the weather is not cooperating! I need some warmth! I need to sit by a pool in the sun and veg for a little while! Our new dog also needs to stay outside before he chews up the garage and all its contents! It's been too cold to make him stay out there all night!

Highs - I've got a sitter for Valentine's day - no idea where we will go or what we will do, but I have a sitter by George! I started at my practicum site at an elementary school, and love, love, love the girl I'm working with! She is fabulous!

Lows....definitely NOT getting to see my AXO's is sucking! I too am sick of the dreary cold! I am ready for the warm rays -- don't you love those spring mornings where it is bright out and just the perfect temperature!!

Also lows...my brother Chris is in the Navy - he is VERY lonely and depressed right now. He is extremely shy, and being on a ship with 3500 people in the middle of nowhere doesn't help. He emails me each night to tell me how lonely and sad he feels and that he misses us and the baby. I hope you'll all keep him in your prayers!

Highs...my new business with PartyLite is going great - I am enjoying the money I have earned so far, and LOVE getting out at night to do the shows. It is great for me to be at home with Eli all day, and then at night to go be with adults while daddy stays home and gets to have one-on-one time with the baby. I am only doing one to two shows a week, so it is really working out nicely.

Okay - hope you're all having a great week so far!!

AXO Alum, I was watching Fox and Friends this morning and they were with a group of young soldiers outside Iraq. The boys were holding up signs and shouting out to loved ones back home. They looked so young... I couldn't help but think of your brother and all the other young men we have read about on GC or know personally. My heart and prayers are with ALL of you!
BTW, what is PartyLite???

roxydiva, so sorry about your uncle. I'm glad you have sisters you love to help you.

AXO_MOM_3, we had a dog that ATE part of our house, chewed off an entire corner before we noticed it! It really is wonderful when you actually LIKE the people you work with...

Anyone heard from smiley?

Hey all!
Lows - My mom is in the hospital due to problems with her diabetes et al. I still am in need of some major WARM sunshine! I'm SO behind in my schoolwork since the girls have been out of school so much due to weather.

Highs - My darling husband surprised me this weekend by painting the hallway and doors (We had thes UGLY country blue doors all over the house - the whole inside of the house was blue when we bought it - anyway, he got six of them painted white this weekend! Only the two left in the living room to go now!) Yippee! My hallway is so much brighter now!

JAM - thanks for your thoughts about Chris -- he is really working hard and is working on meeting new friends on the ship. I think its easy to imagine feeling lonely when you are on a ship in the middle of the ocean with 5000 others that you don't know!!

PartyLite is the GREATEST of the home shows! They are THE candle people and make the best candles on the market. The home shows are fun because its just sitting around talking for about 20 minutes about the products, but of course (as women will do) we end up talking about OTHER things (hint - what most people think about when you're talking about candles and night time mood ) -- so then it turns into a big PJ party with the giggling and the stories -- oh, it is SO much fun!! If you ever get invited to go to one, you should go! They are a blast!!

I started PL in December to help pay off the ENORMOUS debt I incurred from Creative Memories (the scrapbook people). I wanted to do something to help earn money since I would be staying at home with Eli. Well, instead I forked over about $3000 to CM and it was terrible! I can't believe I got sucked into that. Well, PL is totally different - I paid NOTHING to start ($250 for CM) and do not keep an inventory ($1000 and up for CM) and don't have to pay for my hostess gifts, credit card transactions, etc. Plus, I love getting out at night and being with ADULTS!! I love my child, but being with him all day is plenty! And Mr. AXOAlum really does love to be at home with him. If my party gets cancelled, he tells me to go out anyway so he and "the boy" can have some QT together! It is precious!!

Okay, so that was a really long explanation - sorry!

you know...i hate to reply to this thread again so soon. but i gotta whine, forgive me!

highs--spring break starts next friday! im not going anywhere but home, but hey, thats a welcome change! my boyfriends band is playing at sigma chi at hanover this weekend, and a lot of my sisters have expressed interest in coming with me, and that makes me happy!!

lows--went home thursday night to go to the doctor friday morning. have a cold/sinus thing going on. she made me go to the hospital to get my left ankle x rayed. 2 weeks ago i twisted it. now the top part hurts, and the most tender spot is over a bone--not a good sign!! REALLY not good when youre a dance minor and take 5 hours of dance class a week. THEN. monday happens. i realize my computer has been stolen from our house (i dont use it at school, we only have dial up, so we use one of the roomies computer). i have an original apple ibook, and it is my BABY. so. needless to say...im a little upset! and then its the only item in the house gone. police comes, do a report, etc. roomie tries to take me to dinner to make me feel better. the one resturant we want to go to, closed early for maintenence. get home. go to do laundry, walk out of room, and whack my foot on a broken glass table leg. slices my toe open...off to the emergency room. 4 stiches later...here i am hobbling to class. worst day EVER!

sigh. sorry. and thanks for letting me vent.
AX love and mine,
roxydiva

smiley21 YES YOU! How's everything going for YOU???

roxydiva Do you believe in biorhythms? Sounds like you're in a "physical/critical " stage!

AXO Alum Your "party' sounds great! I don't THINK we have anything like that here, but sometimes I must admit I am soooo out of the loop.

Highs-TWO BIG DATES NEXT WEEK!
Thurs., my niece is bringing her "potential" in. The entire family is going to "Grand Gourmet Night" at the Club which includes a lecture on wines and tasting different selections with each course- a 5 course meal!
FRIDAY!!! The Symphony has brought in 3 antique dealers and will have a cocktail buffet set up prior to their "Roadshow" Sat. Each guest can bring one item for a verbal appraisal! Limited to 120 people. I am SOOOOO pumped up about this!!!
LAST DAY OF MARDI GRAS!!! Yes, time to get back to normal.
Son has been out of school more than IN school with all the holidays.

Lows-WORK! We were waiting to start the new assistant and the OLD assistant had an emergency operation. I am honestly more concerned for her well being (she will be fine) but good grief this is more than difficult.

Finding I am losing my patience with some of the GC posters...NEVER a happy word, always a "BIG" problem. Let's just keep beating the dead dog with the stick. SOME of the topics are starting to get to me as well. With so many viewers of this site, you'd think some people would THINK before they post...unless they wear their proclamations proudly. Ah well-time to take a break I suppose and reconnect later when I can look at things with fresh eyes and see humor in the situation.

Roxydiva - sounds like you have had a rough week! Hang in there!

Justamom - I thought about you when I was eating my pancakes on Tuesday!

Aggieaxo - lucky you - no lows! Good luck with the condo!

My Lows: Our 70 lb. "puppy" is still eating the house. Now that he is outside, he is destroying (eating) the lattice around the deck and anything else in his path. Any suggestions Aggieaxo? Everyone I know is going somewhere warm for spring break, but since my week is different from the girls, we will only get a long weekend in the mountains.

My Highs: Mom finally got to go home, and is doing great. I have a whole week out of school to play catch up (maybe even get ahead...in my dreams) on all my school work since the girls are all still in school! It was 75 degrees here today - I played outside all day!

Michelle,

Have you heard of invisble fencing? It is a wire that is placed around what ever you do not want touched and then your dog (or cat) wears a collar and if they try to enter the area they get shocked-I know it sounds cruel but I know many people including veterinarian that have the system and it seems to work well-see if you have an Invisible Fencing company in your area or call a Petsmart to see if there is a system you can install yourself.
