Per UCF's Twitter, Delta Zeta will colonize Fall 2011 and Gamma Phi Beta will colonize in either 2013 or 2014! Congatulations to both groups!

Yay for these groups...but this hurts me...I want my Beta Kappa back!
Also I believe that Tri Sigma left between 1999-2002....I just don't know when, because I left AZ in '93.

I'm sorry ms_gwyn. I know it would be so nice to get your chapter back. I had my fingers crossed for you; I really did.

According to our expansion thread, selections haven't been made yet.

UCF announcement
To quote Gamma Phi Beta -
"Who's ready to jump and scream for joy?!? Gamma Phi Beta Sorority will proudly join the Greek Council - UCF at the University of Central Florida in fall 2013! Congratulations to our Panhellenic sisters at Delta Zeta Sorority as well - they will join the Greek community next fall. It's a great day to be a GPB

Welcome to UCF, DZ and Gamma Phi Beta! You are joining a campus with a true spirit of Panhellenism, and I can't wait to see your letters represented at my alma mater!

I'm so excited for our two new sororities at UCF! So what exactly happens when they colonize?

UCFKnight, there are TONS of expansion threads but in short, probably after recruitment the colony will hold an informational event (or a couple), then hold interviews, then have a pledging ceremony for colony members, and then all the real work begins! Depending on the campus (and UCF will probably be like this) HUNDREDS of girls could be interested in membership so it has to be a very organized process and it is at least as competitive as formal recruitment. They will probably pledge in the range of total, although it is up to the sorority to decide how many members they want to take, and it is usually from all 4 years of college, so it's a great opportunity for women who feel like they missed the boat.

Delta Zetas are very excited to be a part of the UCF Panhellenic. What a neat campus. If UCF has the second largest student population, is UTexas the largest?
Just wanted to share some trivia I noticed about the ASU chapters that became part of this thread. No single letter chapters at ASU but a lot of similiarities:
Arizona State University:
Gamma Phi Beta Beta Kappa
Sigma Sigma Sigma Beta Kappa
Alpha Phi Gamma Pi
Delta Gamma Gamma Phi
Kappa Alpha Theta Delta Epsilon
Kappa Kappa Gamma Epsilon Delta
Alpha Chi Omega Zeta Pi
Delta Zeta Pi Zeta

Sidetrack: According to Wiki's 2010-2011 list of the top 10 largest universities based on Dept of Ed stats:
1. Arizona State
2. UCF
3. Ohio State
4. Minnesota
5. UT
6. UF
7. Texas A&M
8. Univ. of South FL
9. Mich State
10. Penn State
I know this is Wiki but it's the only list I could find lol.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. While I am in Texas now (probably why I thought UT was the largest), I grew up right by Arizona State College, now University, and apparently the largest. We Phonecians never saw that coming! Three of the top ten in the Department of Education list are Florida Universities and none are in New York or California. That surprises me too. I don't know how far such lists would go back but I would guess that a late as WWI the largest universities were private - Harvard, Yale ...

Minnesota seems very misplaced here. I thought it was among the smallest of the Big 10. If I get a minute I'll see what I can find.
OK, I found one list that put them 4th, one at 11th and one at 14th. Part of it is they have a relatively huge graduate student population of 20K versus 31K. Looking at the undergrad numbers I get a list closer to what I was expecting:
1 University of Central Florida a[›] Orlando, Florida 45,398 [1] 2 Ohio State University Columbus, Ohio 41,348 [2] 3 Arizona State University a[›] Tempe, Arizona 41,256 [3] 4 Rutgers University New Brunswick, New Jersey 38,902 [4][ clarification needed] 5 Texas A&M University a[›] College Station, Texas 38,810 [5] 6 Pennsylvania State University University Park, Pennsylvania 38,630 [6] 7 University of Texas at Austin a[›] Austin, Texas 38,168 [7] 8 University of South Florida a[›] Tampa, Florida 36,595 [8] 9 Michigan State University East Lansing, Michigan 36,489 [9] 10 University of Florida a[›] Gainesville, Florida 33,628 [10]
