When Tatynesia did that Rhianna song and the two judges PRAISED her for it, I really wanted to know we were listening to the same singer. It was a terrible performance and I was relieved that Randy spoke the truth.

I like Steven Tyler and JLo, but sometimes I have to wonder about their comments.

Really, Ashton? Really?

Why the hell did they let her through?

And how did Randy actually like her performance tonight?! I don't get it.

I like her, just not her voice.. I hate that.
I think they let her through because of her personality.

And WTF Stefano? That was terrible...are we listening to different performances? *scratches head*

How on earth did the judges not tear apart Naima? If Simon was there, I think he would have walked out halfway through her performance. At this point in the competition (when the other contestants are as good as they are), she should be blowing us away… and not singing ‘Umbrella’!!!

And please, Naima, I’m begging you… never dance again.

Btw, LOVED James singing Paul McCartney

Pia I also enjoyed, although I felt she was straining a little. She is kind of blah for me as a person when she's onstage - I thought she was way more interesting with her glasses in her package interview before she sang. It's like she's trying to be this classy, quiet, power belter, and she's sacrificing anything interesting in her personality to get there.
I did feel like Pia was trying a bit too hard.. and so was that girl who sang Selena. Both performances seemed a bit.. awkward to me. And while I love Thia’s voice, as well, I think she needs to add something to her singing. If she doesn’t, she’ll quickly be forgotten and will be booted.

Ashthon needs to go.

Naima ... the vocals were NOT there ... but she seemed like the only one who was trying to put on a performance outside of the vocals, which I can appreciate. I think when she went into the reggae the song got much better. Umbrella is just NOT a singer's song, and is never going to highlight vocals in any way. She needs to pick better songs or she's gone.
Let's face it.. America didn't pick Ashton or Naima.. the judges did. I don't think either of them will last long. The judges chose for both of them to stay for all the wrong reasons, in my opinion.

Casey ... I really like him, but I hope he can tone down the "really angry" sing he has going on. He always looks so mad, and it takes away from my enjoyment of the song when he looks like he's about to jump through my TV and hurt me.
I agree. I think it would have been ok one week.. but he's done this twice. I miss hearing the various sounds of his voice.. he needs to go back to that.

Jacob is a lot like James for me - great voice, but he does NOT know how to restrain himself, and it gets really tiresome really fast. I hope he can learn to control his voice more too, because I do like him.
This was not my favorite performance by him. I don't think it was terrible, but he should have chosen a different song. And yes, he does need to tone it down a bit.

I missed Scotty's performance ... which is fine since I don't like country. I think he has a good voice, but my dislike of country prevents me from being able to really judge his singing.
He has a good voice, but every song he sings sounds EXACTLY THE SAME. Bored. ::yawn::

And I'm getting pissed with the judging. For the most part it's all "I can't judge you, you were that good!" Bitch, you are getting paid to judge them - DO IT.
THIS!

I think there are several of them, like Scotty, who will get recording contracts out of this but who aren't necessarily right for Idol. Scotty is a great country singer but to do really well on Idol, you have to have some versatility. To do well as a country singer, you can sound the same on every song. Most of them do.. Randy Travis, Garth Brooks, etc.

I like to listen to Casey, but he doesn't "look" like an Idol to me.

I still think we have more unique singers with their own styles than usual this season. Usually, they all just try to cover a song exactly but this group makes it enjoyable by adding new spins to it.

Audience, is it necessary to boo the judges everytime they give a negative critique? Did you really think they sang good? Come on, we're not in 1st grade.

Casey and Jacob are still my favorites, although I think alot of people might not have liked Casey's performance. It was a little too scream-y. But I liked it.
Jacob literally makes me almost cry during some songs. Gah, he's just good.

Paul's pefect teeth are so distracting, I couldn't tell you what I thought about his performance...They're so damn pretty. Somebody put this guy in a Toothpaste commercial.

Karen...said she doesn't want to be know as just the girl who sings in Spanish, but sings in Spanish everytime...? She has an OK voice, just not a stand-out performer.

I just don't like Stefano. He took a step in the right direction tonight, but I just don't see how he made it into the Top 24.

The judges actually did good on judging tonight. Made me happy =)

Yes! On both accounts.

Steven is still way too nice, though, and he doesn't give enough constructive criticism. But at least it's not all of them saying, "You're the best!" to every contestant.

Why, Casey.. why?! Kurt Cobain was definitely intense while singing that song, but in a controlled way. Casey seems to be insane when he's up there singing. I'm really surprised that none of the judges have commented on his transformation from bass playing Casey to so-over-the-top-I-like-to-yell-and-scream-in-every-song-I-sing Casey.

Overall, I don't think any of the performances from last night really stood out to me.

What I remember the most - Haley's red teeth

Finally got to watch this week.. my thoughts:

Naima: Ick, didn't like how she was all over the map
Paul: I love his voice, it's so unique and distinctive but I agree with the comment "you're meant to sing your own music"
Thia: nice voice, nice song... just nice, doesn't knock my socks off
James: Not feeling him this week, good performer, not convinced he's a good singer
Haley: I like her overall, lipstick all over!
Stefano: Maybe it's the Italian thing, but I love this guy.. if I were decades younger... <sigh>, he would have been my crush if I was a teenager
Pia: Probably my favorite female voice this season, she doesn't have the "performer" stuff down quite yet, she is learning though, I think
Scotty: He's going to be a great country singer, not sure he's best for Idol
Karen: Not sure she was the one who deserved to go this week, I liked her better than I liked Naima, just sayin'
Casey: wasn't impressed with this week's performance, I liked him better previously, I didn't understand the comment about him toning down the "evil" til I watched it.. now I understand
Lauren: One of my all time fave songs, she sang it, but lacked the passion that Melissa Etheridge sang it with
Jacob: Not sure his style is something that really appeals to me personally, but I do recognize his incredible talent. Just not stuff I would listen to voluntarily. I do think he overpowers some parts of each song.

^^^ pretty much agree with almost all of this.
Something I haven't seen mentioned yet is Paul's "moves." I really love his voice, but I find his incessant jumping/skipping/etc. SO distracting. I wish that he would just stand still.

Thank you, thank you, thank you judges. Casey didn't have the best week, but he definately deserved to stay. I'm still wondering how Stefano is in the competition...I just don't like his voice. He is a cutie pie though.

I literally thought Casey was going to pass out.

Was Hulk Hogan really necessary?

Happy Birthday Steven

I love Stefano's voice. I agree that Casey deserved to stay though. My daughter and I speculated that people assume Casey is going to do fine so they vote for their faves who they think might not get a ton of votes. I knew the judges would save him though. There's no way that AI tour would be without Casey.

I'm glad they saved Casey...but I was really scared that he was going to throw up on stage!

He definitely shouldn't be the next to go!

When they had the bottom 3 up there, I knew Casey was the one that received the lowest number of votes. I think Ryan said, “…tonight’s shocking results…,” or some variation of that about 5 different times during the show. But I was still upset when Naima got to walk back to her seat on the couches. Even SHE looked shocked when it was announced that Casey might be going home. My mom actually said, “Yea, it should be YOU over there.. you suck!” LOL

I’m definitely glad the judges decided to keep Casey… and knew that they would… and I loved that they stopped him 10 seconds into the song (they definitely made a point there!), but I also wanted to hear him sing. He actually sounded like he might “tone down the evil,” which is the Casey I miss. I think he’s veered so far from where he was before the live show, and I’m glad that Jennifer kind of said that to him last night. He’s one of those contestants where the judges should have been saying to him all along, “Who IS Casey?”

I know that Marc Anthony disagreed with his wife about Pia, but I’m going to have to take Jennifer’s side on this one. That’s not to say that Pia isn’t an unbelievable singer. She’s one of the most naturally talented vocalists that American Idol has ever seen. However… As I said to one of my friends a couple weeks ago, “She has no personality.” I know that sounds horrible, but what I mean is… she has nothing to pull in the audience. People will vote for her in the beginning because her voice is incredible, but when it gets down to the end, a lot of it also has to do with likability. She has nothing that makes her stand out. She needs that.

I think James and Jacob did great with their songs this week. Jacob deserved that hug from Steven! I think that James could have gone a little crazier at the end of that song, but overall it was good.

I’m waiting for Paul to sing “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt. It just seems like one of those songs he’d sing.

p.s. I love that Hulk Hogan showed up James’ face was priceless! And the fact that he was trying to imitate everything Hogan did cracked me up

Agreed... the girls don't really bring much to the table in terms of standing out. Lauren is another one who has a great voice, but she seems too... I don't even know the word. Immature? Her whole, "I didn't deal with criticism very well" speech before her performance this week wasn't something I would want put on national tv. Suck it up. This is what comes with being a performer... especially one who is competing in front of all of America to try and earn their votes.

Thia is definitely too young. I think she has the potential to be amazing a few years from now.
