does anyone know what it means if a chapter that wasn't doing spring wrote down your name anyways?

Please clarify. They invited you to an event?

I think this is a stellar idea. Now, from your mouth the UF Panhellenic's ears. I hope all the smaller chapters can get the results they're hoping for.

While I think it's a good idea to support the chapters giving bids by maybe just being there helping out, if some chapters gave the appearance of not wanting to be there that was picked up on by the PMNs, would it really matter if they were there just helping out with refreshments or at a table? To me it's one of those "lipstick on a pig" things, if they don't want to be there, they don't want to be there and that will be apparent to everyone, as it was.

If you're just giving people punch and cookies you don't have to keep answering the same questions and repeating the same facts/info about your sorority over and over. That would go a long way towards making them less annoyed, IMO.
Plus, if everyone who did this was in Panhellenic...that's part of being in Panhellenic, there's extra stuff like this you have to do. And (theoretically) you're seeing a bigger picture than just the garden variety chapter member.

If each house can't find 10 members who can take one for the team - and by team I mean the Greek System - for a single evening, then there's a problem.
Whether they're manning a table or passing out cookies, one of the most valuable life lessons is that sometimes, you may have to not only work toward a goal that doesn't directly benefit you, but you may have to do it graciously.
Hope that the houses and PNMs make some good matches.

I was just wondering if there was any method on how they contact the pnms after spring rush because they released the contact information for the pnms at 12pm today and my friend who also rushed with me was contacted literally at noon and I still haven't heard back.
~Should I acknowledge the fact that I won't be receiving a call from the sorority I wanted, or is there still some chance I'll receive a bid?

Bingo!^^
It's called growing up and realizing life isn't just about you and what you want. Isn't part of being in a sorority "doing good" for others? If young ladies can't do something like this without having issues I am really afraid to see how they will handle "life" as time rolls on.

The agreed upon total is an upper bound, not a lower bound. Chapters are not saying "hey, we promise to get to total", they are saying "hey, we promise not to go over total through any means except formal recruitment". It's a binding agreement, but for a different reason than stated above.

Who knows?
It may just be an email list to keep you informed of future events (ex: to give your name to Panhellenic so they can remind you of formal recruitment sign-ups and stuff in the fall, or future informal recruitment events if they DO have some at another point.)
That's just my guess.
I wouldn't read too much into it.

Each chapter sent 10 women, so there we 160 recruiters present on Monday night. Each house had a horse shoe of tables with "brag boards, " paddles and other items for the PNMs to browse through.
I know that 5 or 6 houses were still prepared to bid, some had changed their minds on the day leading up to it.
I also heard girls did ask to leave because they did not understand that they would be recruited and were uncomfortable.
We are currently in a silence period between chapter women and PNMs, that breaks at noon tomorrow. This also signals the beginning of the Bid extending process.
I believe there was enough spaces in sororities so that between 55-65 women could join sororities!

Remember how many girls were in the room the other night. It could be something as simple as you're further down the list alphabetically or on the sign-in sheet. Or they could be inviting girls over in smaller batches. Let's hope for the best! No need to freak out yet. Good luck! I'm intrigued by this process. Please let us know how it goes for you.

Or the recruitment/membership chair may have class. Wait it out for a little longer (I know, it sucks!).

I'm surprised so many people see it as "big chapters get nothing out of it", though. Helping smaller chapters become stronger means a bigger system with more women doing positive things that reflect well on all greeks.
