Oh, absolutely!
It's great for several reasons:
1) Alumnae are thrilled to get them. They'll be HAPPY to write a rec next year if they're asked. Or to be an advisor. They might even be HAPPY to write the chapter a check for the next house/chapter room renovation! Or foundation fund-raiser!
2) It makes new members more aware of good manners, the recruitment process, how important alumnae continue to be, and how they are linked to ladies much older through their sorority.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten one in probably 15 years.

Well I honestly am still a little confused on the whole rec thing lol and Ive already been initiated. However, I go to a school where rush is not as competitive and in panhellinics own words "recs are not required to get a bid." This is true as far as I know as I nor my friends who went through rush had recs.

Unless rules have changed within the past 5 years, Alpha Delta Pi requires a rec for everyone receiving a bid. If you go to a school where the Panhellenic Council requires one, or you should already know to have at least one for each GLO prior to Recruitment, you will have it. If not, there are alumnae who will write one for you - whether you've been told about it or not.

Just because you didn't get the rec for yourself doesn't mean the chapter didn't find one for you.

Agreed. I've written a few for the daughters of friends but the daughters probably never knew until after recruitment.
