[QUOTE=angels&angles;1857284]Yes, but unlike ADPi/Phi Mu, Pi Phi was founded as a women's fraternity (since the word sorority hadn't been coined yet.) The name changed, yes, but it's always been a fraternity (still is). [QUOTE]
Actually, Phi Mu is still considered a fraternity for the same reason you list for Pi Phi.

You do, but you have down the date of our founding, rather than our Founders' Day.

I think, though, that she was saying that Phi Mu and ADPi were originally called "Societies."

Oh, sorry, I didn't read your post correctly. I wonder if this is the case, where groups celebrate Founders Day on a day other than their date of founding. Thanks!

Please continue to check dates and let me know if any are incorrect. I am looking for the date on which each organization celebrates Founders Day.
The post with the most current, updated info:

Thanks!

Tri Delta considers it's Founder's Day (for celebration purposes) as "Thanksgiving Eve" and not a specific day. In 1888 Thanksgiving Eve happened to fall on November 27. This year, if you want to wish a Tri Delta "Happy Founder's Day!" it will be on November 25.

Yeah, I like that too.
And being the history geek I am I looked up the date of Thanksgiving Day in 1888 and it fell on November 29, so the date of founding is actually November 28.
This is what the website says:
"At last, all was finished on Tuesday...November 27, 1888, but there was one more meeting of the two friends on the following afternoon before they separated for the Thanksgiving recess, at the top of the college building in what was then the Philological Library. It was there that the two girls embraced each other and said 'Tri Delta is founded'"

Thank you!!! I have over 200 names and dates, so I was bound to make a mistake!
I will be merging all of the lists, and adding a column to show the type of organization (if it belongs to an umbrella, if it's a service group, etc.). The last part of this project will take a while.
I have already spent 7-8 hours looking up dates, typing them out, and organizing each group. I don't know why I am doing it. I have some time on my hands recovering from surgery lol.

Regarding Delta Gamma, I would simply put Christmas 1873 (as it is very probable it wasn't exactly on Christmas Day). The year of when Founders' Day is celebrated is irrelevant because when the organization was actually founded is what gives the group its age.

Out here I've only every been to Founder's Day celebrations in February...probably because the 8th of Dec. falls right around finals for a lot of schools.
