In the same way that GC etiquette dictates not outing a PNM's school, the same courtesy is extended to those who write retro stories and do not include their school.

Basically, if the writer (of any age) discloses their school, then that is fine. If they do not, then we should not either.

Here is all I am willing to say.
Was rejected by Princeton and Yale but got on the Dartmouth wait list.
My HS BFF Susan went to the University of Georgia and transferred to Georgia Tech. My HS friend Alice goes to Auburn.
