I just started a discussion thread for the book so people who have finished could talk about it and not have to worry about 'spoiling' for anyone.
If some reads that thread, well then they asked to be spoiled.

I am still waiting for my copy to arrive. I ordered it on Amazon.com, and I have been anxiously awaiting its arrival all day! Now it's 3:18 pm and the UPS guy hasn't come yet! I'm going to go crazy!

I had pre-ordered my book, and the BnN that I went to was giving out yellow wrist bands with numbers on them. When you got there, they crossed you off the list and gave you the band. Then, at midnight, they called people with numbers 1-50 to get in line. Then it went on from there. Aside from the fact that the store was freakin packed with people and it was really loud (and yes teenagers suck), I was impressed with the organization of it.
For people who hadn't pre-ordered, they could get an orange wrist band and they got to buy books after all of us yellow people got ours. I got there at 11:45 and was in the last group of yellows (#331). Some kids in the number group tried to cut in line, but I think they saw the look on my face and knew they had better at least get behind me. Haha.
But anyway it was good cause you didn't just have to sit in line the whole time. Since I had my number, I could walk around the store (they had a big party going on). Still something of a cluster *uck, but actually getting my book wasn't too bad at all.

My daughter is a camp counselor this summer. She called me a little while ago. Harry was delivered to the camp last night (pre-arrangements with the bookstore that someone drove them to the camp after midnight). When the kids woke up this morning those who had books ordered found them sitting on their beds. The kids have been reading all day. The older kids (daughter has 15 year olds) don't want their friends to know that they read the books so most of them did not have books delivered. The big kids are walking around watching the little ones read with that look on their face that they really really want to read the book but they really really do not want anyone to know that they read them. Daughter says it is a lot of fun to watch. Of course, daughter has not read any of the HP's so she doesn't care about this particular book. I have a feeling she will finally break down and read them at some point.

Mine was "shipped" UPS but delivered by the Postal Service. UPS doesn't normally deliver on Saturday so I would imagine most were delivered by the postman..............

I'm only on like page 200. I'm a pretty fast reader but I do have other things to do during the day other than reading. Tomorrow though I will probably be able to spend more time on the book.

I didn't even get to come on GC last night, I got home around 5am. I worked at the bookstore from 6-3am and I WAS POOPED!!! It was a madhouse in there, all the parents were freaking out afraid we'd run out and their kid wouldn't get a book. I swear, what part of "We ordered nearly 3,000 books, you'll definitely get one" was hard for them? The party was a great success, but I came home so tired. After work, we all went out to eat and talk about how crazy the customers were (kids were fine, it was their parents that were crazy). I woke up with no voice, from screaming over the 1,000+ people who were there. My uncle asked me, "You sound awful, were you attacked by dementors?" I said, "No, just demented parents."
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a book to read! I'm only half-way through the first chapter, I read a few pages last night, then passed out.

I'm in the same boat, I'm afraid. I just never got into this series but I have some friends, currently, who are OBSESSED. They might drag me into their crazy world!

You know what I think is sooooo stupid? People here on GC who are dissing us fans who like HP. They keep posting how stupid it is & how sick they are of HP. Ummm...excuse me but almost everyone I know that doesn't like HP doesn't sit around wasting time and telling people how stupid it is & how they don't like it.
They actually have lives and go about their business instead of sitting around whining about how they hate it.
These people need to get a life & find something else to do instead of bitching about how they hate HP over and over and over and over again.
Now I know I'm gonna get knocked but I don't care. I'm not ashamed to say I actually enjoy HP.

I totally agree. I respect their opinions (especially since one of the posters is a sister) but seriously.
If they were all into something I wouldn't even read the thread and I definately wouldn't start a thread whining about how I hate how much people are into it and that all the adults who read the book somehow need to get a life. What is that about. Saying that because I like a book that is meant for kids and teenagers I need to get a life?
When I was a kid/teenager I most definately DID NOT read books that were 600-900 PAGES LONG!!!!!!
Plus they should be looking at the positive of HP and that is one simple fact...
KIDS AND TEENAGERS ARE READING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That should outweigh how annoying they think it is and as a teacher, at least their reading!!!!!!

Here Here! As a teacher too, I thoroughly enjoy reading chapters of books to my kids. Every Friday, after lunch, we take 20 minutes in which I read to them. Also everyday, we have free reading time so I get excited to see my kids reading books that don't have pictures on every page. YAY!
Back to Harry Potter now.
It was just brought to my attention from an LJ friend that the killing curse leaves no trace of attack. The person just literally drops dead. Why then does Harry wipe a trace of blood from Dumbledore's mouth after he dies? I think maybe it's b/c he was already dying from the cursed potion but I'm not completely sure.

Yeah, mine was also shipped UPS but was delivered by the postman. I didn't know that UPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays though, because I could have sworn I have seen the UPS truck coming around on Saturdays before... But whatever, at least I have my book now
