I will for sure vote for RUUUUUUUUBENNNNNNNN!!!! I really like Ruben a lot, and I don't understand why some of ya'll in here hating on him. I like Clay too, but he does have this uncanny knack for turning his songs into Broadway showtunes. Thank goodness I love some Broadway; I will throw Clay some votes, but best believe that Ruben will get the great majority of my votes!!

I don't think it is so much "hating" on Ruben as it is comparing his talent to Kim's. I mean, Ruben is definitely a talented guy, no question. Clay as well. But in my opinion, Kimberley blew them out of the water. If you ask me, Trenyce did too.

Yes, as you can see, our opinions vary a great deal. Anyhoo, I liked Trenyce, but something about her hair color made her look washed out, maybe that was just my household's opinion. But I did like her, but I knew she wasn't going as far as everyone else. She has a great voice, but it's a common singing voice. She sounds like every other person on the radio, which is why she didn't stand out.
Kimberly made it that far because she improved her look, and started picking songs that we like. I mean, how many times can we hear over the rainbow?

Ruben seems very humble, and like Carolyne mentioned, he has an aura. I think he has range as well. I think what makes Ruben so loveable is that he makes you feel good about what he's singing. He's great. I love him!

Clay, I like. He's cool. But, he has a broadway voice. His songs are turned into showtunes.

To me, none of them are "american idols", they don't fit the image. The other Kimberly and Carmen looked like idols.


So, all my votes will be for RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUben!!!

I've never been on the Rueben train. He sounds just like all the other black men that come into my bosses office trying to make it on the radio, he just got on t.v. So i guess that's why I'm way more cold about it. Also, I blasted Ryan Seacrest for getting the audience on Rueben's side in the beginning. If you're gonna have a special RUEEEEEEBENNNNNN call for him, then dangit do it for everyone. I bet you a hundred bucks that if he has said "K LOOOOOOOOOOOOO" everytime she came out, she'd be there right now instead of Rueben or Clay.

Another thing is that I'm just not attracted to large men like Rueben. I think I said that at the beginning of the thread. The only one that was large and I still loved him is LUFFA. That's about it.


But just a question, are some of you voting for Rueben so that him winning will kinda make up for Tamarya(who I agree was the best singer) losing last year? Just a question.

I don't know about everyone else but I did not watch AI last season. I watched it this season beacuse a lot of people I knew watched last season and I wasnted to see what all the fuss was about. I know most people say that Tamyra should have won but since I didn't see her last season I can't judge it like that.

Besides, I've stated plenty times that Clay just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. I don't like big men either but tomorrow my votes will be going to RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBEN !

Tamyra was WAY better during AI1 than she was last week. I don't know WHY her voice sounded like that...maybe she hasn't been practicing since the show? I dunno, but I was disappointed.

For those that didn't watch last season its hard to explain - when Tamyra, Kellye or even Justin come on now and sing one song its not the same as watching them compete and sing the various songs on a weekly basis. The show was new and the three of them kept it consistent every week no matter what "theme" was thrown at them. I was upset my girl didn't win but in all honesty Kellye was good and it worked out for the best (Tamyra would not have been on Boston Public is she was doing the AI tour and movie).

However, I don't vote for Ruben to make up for Tamyra - I vote for Ruben because I like him as a singer and he's a good performer. Yeah - there are better singers in my church choir but they are not competing - gotta vote between who's on stage and barring a complete meltdown - Ruben is my man.

(BTW Ryan did call out K-Lo - his saying Ruuuuuben did not affect the voting-I think he was clarifying what the audience was saying because initially many thought Ruben was being booed.)

I think Tamyra did get robbed last year. I personally like her voice much better than Kelly Clarkson (who always sounds like she's yelling instead of singing). However, I am not a Ruben fan. I would much rather have had Kim or Trenyce win the competition than Ruben. I think his voice is good, but I think the hype and constant praise from the judges has turned me off. It irks me that Kimberly and others were told to lose weight, or dance around the stage, yet nothing was ever said to Ruben. There are quite a few things he could improve on; moving on stage, adding variety to his song selections, and there have been a few times when Ruben has been off pitch (I teach piano and I can hear when they're off). I personally could not see myself paying $50+ to see him in concert if his performance would be like those on American Idol.

I think the reason why Kimberly and others (Vanessa and Josh) were told to lose weight is because they are all on the borderline between what society sees as small and big. As the guys used to say in college, they are all one cheeseburger away from being fat. As far as Ruben, he's just big. There is no in between. Most people wouldn't look at him and say, "Oh, if he lost about 20 pounds, he would be fine." The same as if Frenchie was in the competition. I don't think Simon would have mentioned the weight to her either because it's part of who she is and her "image". Whereas, the others would be more marketable small. You have to have something that's working for you. You can't be the chubby kid on the block.

I agree with the last poster! I am all for Ruben! But Frenchie was on abc this morning's show Singing with the cast of rent! They asked frenchie if she is watching idol. She said no Fox has made enough money off of me already!
