I am not watching. I never really liked AI after a few seasons and Adam, while I like him and love the fact that he is openly gay, I just can't take the yelling. The other guy doesn't stand out enough to pay attention. Anyways-right now I'm big on female singers, males don't seem to be bringing it in pop music for me.

I dont watch AI but I watched the last 5 minutes just to see what these two guys looked like and to see who would win. I got a message from the AOII fan page I have on my facebook that stated Kris' wife was a sister. My AOII sisters, except for a certain few, have been voting for Kris like crazy. I personally liked Adam's performance better (1st impression too), but Kris has a sweet persona. His wife was the blond in the yellow dress.

Congrats to Kris Allen--American Idol winner--and husband of Katy Allen, a Xi Omicron (U of Arkansas) alumna of AOII!

Katy Allen is a founding sister of the Xi Omicron chapter at Arkansas.
I only watched the last part of tonight's show (and none during the rest of the season). They both were really good and either could have taken it. I would say that if it weren't for the AOII votes, I don't think Kris would have taken it. But either deserved to be there.

AOII and Arkansas. I can't tell you how INSANE the state has been since he made it into the top.

I don't think you're giving Kris enough credit - I think it was more than just the AOPi votes the propelled Kris to victory...it was the former Danny voters, it was the voters who don't like screeching guylined singers, it was the voters who recognized what an amazing talent Kris is....etc etc etc!
I did not find out till the other day when I logged onto GC that Kris' wife was Greek...that was just icing on the cake for me!

I apologize if it was implied that it was only because of the AOII votes that Kris won. That was not my intention - but I'm sure they helped (and helped keep him in the running to the end along with the other variables).

I think you are right that it is the Danny votes that made Kris win.....I am not happy he won, I think Adam should have...Regardless if he will be around or not, he was the best all season!
Anyways, the person I wanted to win hasn't lost since Clay vs. Ruben....

I didn't watch any of American Idol at all, but it is better for Adam's career longevity that he did NOT win.

Adam was too fake for me. Yes HE can sing and he is very talented. For me he belongs on Broadway or in a Heavy Metal Band. So I'm not sure how well that relates to everyone in America. I also know that many Baptist Churchs in the South were promoting Kris Allen since he is a member of a huge Baptist church up in Arkansas. I think they both will do well, if they are managed properly and they stick to what they love doing.
Oh and I didn't realize Kara could sing....

Not happy with the results.
Congrats to the winner though.

This has probably been discussed before - but I wonder how different it would be if there was only one vote per person (or, okay, phone)? Fox doesnt want to do that though, because their "AMAZING almost 1 million votes!" would quickly drop...
Then again, more people may vote if they could actually get throguh rather than the line being held up by 'tweens who have nothing better to do than redial all night long. I REALLY hate the way voting is set up. It really should only be one per person...
I'm sad Adam didnt win, but I agree with CutiePie that he's going to better off that he didnt win. IMO, Kris needs the title to succeed, Adam's a star regardless.

Had to pop in and say I don't care if they say ratings were lower this year, that was the BEST finale so far for AI. Even my husband watched and was impressed. Cyndi Lauper? Jason Mraz? Carlos Santana? Steve Martin? (though it was odd) But then KISS in full makeup AND Queen?? After KISS we actually both braced ourselves that maybe, just maybe Led Zeppelin would come out - we would have jumped off the couch if that happened. So when it was Queen, we were suitably impressed, but slightly disappointed, LOL. Either way, I enjoyed the whole show (could have lived with out screechy Megan forgetting her words to Steve Martin's song, but whatever --- I haven't read all the pages I've missed here, but has the rumor that she and Anoop-dog are an item been posted yet?).
Oh, and I completely agree with the comments that Kris "needs" the title more than Adam. Just like I think Cookie would have been fine on his own without the title (ala Daughtry) and Archie would have been doing better with the AI machine fully behind him, I know Adam will be fine (Katy Perry has a satin cape with his name stitched on it for god's sake!) and think Kris would have faded into the mist without the machine. I think with the AI machine he might do really well long-term, the kid is definitely talented.
Good season of AI! I enjoyed it!

Sadly, Queen - Freddie Mercury =/= Queen.
