Who buys Krispy Kreme from a convenience store?? I mean, seriously ... those aren't REAL Krispy Kreme. REAL Krispy Kreme are the ones from the Krispy Kreme shop, hot and delicious.

As for Dunkin Donuts ... I am not a very good cook, but I've made my own donuts that are at least as good if not better than Dunkin Donuts. We don't have any DDs in Savannah any more, and I don't miss it.

I'm a DD fan through and through as well. Growing up there was nothing like getting to go to DD and pick out a box of your favorite munchkins. I love their coffee and bagels and miss my DD runs on my way to work every morning. I wish they'd come back to CA.

Random sidenote but did anyone know that down in Lima Peru they have DD stores? My friend just got back from there and I found it hilarious you can get munchkins in Peru.

I love donuts!!! I've been good though and haven't had any in a few years. KK donuts are too sweet for me and a little too gooey. I love Dunkin'.

You are correct MysticCat. They used to be made on site. I went for a tour in girl scouts back in the 70s. We got to make our own donuts-the original dunkin kind-which they don't even make anymore. Remember the originals had a handle to make it easier for dunkin? At least where I am from, they have a delivery truck that comes every day with the donuts.

Well, if you have to put all sorts of disclaimers on them (don't buy them from certain places, only buy them when hot, etc) they're not very good, are they? They should have never diffused the product like that in the first place.

I think we only have around 3 KK stores around here now, and none are anywhere near me.

But if you buy them from the Krispy Kreme store, they likely will be hot. I mean really, the only real disclaimer is don't buy any food from a convenience store or gas station, because it's pretty much going to taste like it came from a convenience store no matter what it is.

And I'll even bend the "only buy them from the store" rule a little. KKs have long been used for fundraisers for school groups, and the ones I've bought that way have always been just fine.

But even from a convenience store, KKs are better than DDs.

KK's literally melt in your mouth if they are hot. Very delicious. If I had to have a "cold" donut, I'd go with DD's choc with choc icing with coconut or nuts on top. Cold KK's are not worth eating once you've had the hot ones.

I've never had a DD donut, but I can't stand KK (even when they're hot and fresh out of the oven). It's like eating a glazed hockey puck. Jolly Pirate donuts for me!

KK... seeing as how my mom was addicted to them when she was pregnant with me, I guess it's in my blood. Oooh, how I wish I had a glazed doughnut right about now.

Be jealous. The closest one to me is five blocks from my office.

Yeah, it really is. Doesn't matter how long it stays open, it's over. It was over from the start.

In answer to "do DD actually taste good?" - yes they do and you can actually eat them the day after you buy a dozen without wanting to throw up. Like I said, the fact that you have to eat KKs immediately after they're made says a lot.

You don't have to; it's just that they, like lots of other foods, are best straight out of the oven. It's called freshness.

Doughnuts are a kind of bread. I prefer my bread fresh. If I wanted something that would stay "fresh" for days on end, like some claim DDs do, I'd eat a Twinkie. At least it has flavor and isn't dry as a desert.

Meanwhile, you may be able to eat DDs the day after you buy a dozen without wanting to throw up, but I can't eat one straight from the store without regretting the loss of my money. The thought of buying a dozen seriously makes me want to throw up.

Our niece worked at DD for a while, so we dutifully took the kids there to buy from her. Afterwards, when I said "how were your doughnuts?," which has been covered with chocolate and I don't know what else, they said "alright, but Krispy Kremes are a lot better." (They were 8 and 5 at the time -- I promise that neither my wife nor I suggested beforehand that DDs were anything less than wonderful, and we made a real treat out of going to buy from their cousin.) My wife and I admitted that we agreed, but suggested that they not hurt their cousin's feelings by saying that to her. But of course, my son did. His cousin quickly agreed that she thought KKs were much better than DDs.

i think not... it's mainly just the coffee

and when they have mentioned the doughnuts they say they dunk it in the coffee......

with krispy kreme you don't have to dip their doughnuts in coffee you can just eat them ......

yep that definitely means KK wins
