I like Kahlua and Cream (strange, but I hated them for years) and Rolling Rock is my fave beer.
I also LOVE Bloody Marys, but only if they're made right. Nothing on earth is worse than a bad Bloody Mary!! (Throwing the Daily's mix and Popov vodka in a glass does not cut it.)

Corona with a twist of lime
Amaretto Sour (its liquid candy)
Mudslides
My friends and I make a great drink called "Red" that's become quite popular. Its really easy too - Get the canister of Tropical Punch kool aid and get enough powder to make one pitcher. Then, add as much alcohol as desired (usually, we just dump a bit of everything - Vodka, Tequilla, Rum, Bacardi 151 (not too much of that though). Then we add the water until the kool aid appears to be a good consistency. Then you just keep adding powder until the taste of the alcohol is gone. It makes for LOTS of fun

Good thread.
Miller High Life in the bottle. 11.49 a case. What could be better. I collect highlife memorabilia (sp) too. I have lots of old advertisments and a big neon sign in the garage (drinking parlor). In winter I drink bourbon, Makers Mark perferably. I have been known to drink the occasional Tennessee wiskey (jack black), but usually try to stick with bourbon.

This is my favorite mixed drink!!!
But, you must use a smooth vodka (Absolute or Gordon's) to make it taste just right!
Something else I like is Mondavi White Zinfindel.

Oh, almost forgot. If you're looking for a good new shot try a Chocolate Cake.
It's half Frangelico and half Absolut. You down the alcohol and then bite off part of a sugar coated lemon. It sound weird but tastes soooo good. Just like a piece of cake.

As far as beer goes, my favorite is Sam Adams, pretty much any flavor. My favorite was the Scotch Ale, but I don't think they make it anymore. The Cherry Wheat flavor is great too. Sam is definitely an acquired taste...the first time I ordered one, I could barely finish it.
For mixers, I have become a big fan of Crown Royal and Coke. Crown is so much smoother than Jack Daniel's or rum. A friend of mine has been trying to turn me on to it for years, and I finally tried it and he was right.

Kevin, you and I are a good match. I love wine and am trying to learn more about it. mostly I like gerwurtzaminer (sp?) and Cabernet vs. Chardonnay and merlot.
Plus, I also love guiness! We're real Irish fans around my house, so our pal Guiness makes an appearance at all our parties. DEFINITELY an acquired tatte. When I want to go light, I get a black and tan!
however, when I am out on the town, I love vodka collins, margarita on the rocks and apple martinis. But, I'll try anything! We have several bar books at my house, so we love to experiment.
I did the most fun thing on my 21st bday! My bfriend took little notecards and every drink I had, he wrote down the name, the time I took it and who bought it for me. Then, I signed my name after each one. I had 13 shots that night!! And after each successive one, my name kept getting messier and less legible. It's a great memento because it's funny, reminds me of all the friends that were with me and helps me remember what I actually drank because of course, I could never remember on my own. Some of them I remember were: Scooby Snack, Oatmeal Cookie, lemon drop, screaming orgasm, purple hooter shooter, slippery nipple, blow job and a couple of those other great, typical 21st birthday shots. Unfortunately, i don't know how to make most of them, but some of them were oh-so-good!
Did anyone else do that?

SuperXO,
We sure are Same here. Ever since I went on a 3 week trip with one of my brothers to Chile(when I was an active) I've developed this taste for it. I wouldnt say I'm expert or anything but I do want to learn more about it. Sounds like we like the same kinds of wines. Never heard of the Gerwertaminer though. I've always wanted to do the Napa thing. My grandfather lives in Sacramento and has a nice sized bar in his house. Both my Dad and my grandfather are big scotch drinkers. I didnt really follow suit with that though. If I drink scotch I have to chase it with something. Lately, I like a nice wine and when I feel adventurous I might go for a nice dark beer, a margarita(rocks), or a shooter of some kind. Not as hard core as my rock star college days *L*
Nice to hear you share that love for Guiness. I definitely am partial to black and tans also. We have this awesome Irish bar in Northern Virginia in old town alexandria and its kind of a family irish pub. I havent been there in awhile but the last time I went they had an guitar player singing irish tunes and it was so much fun.
That thing your boyfriend did with you sounds like loads of fun. I never have gone out drinking and write down on the cards. I'd say that funnest thing bar wise I used to do was Bar Crawl. Some of those drinks you had sound familiar. Esp. the purple hooter shooter, the lemon drop and the buttery nipple. I will still stick with my favorite, A Red Death(an alabama slammer and a kamikazee mixed together. Mind Erasers and Bahama mamas are good too.

Hey all, just putting in my two cents:
favs:
Double Whiskey Sour (in a short glass)
Keith's (ma local brew)
Cement mixer (shot of irish cream, shot of lemmon juice, shoot lemmon first, then irish mixed in, mmmmmm good)
and a personal fraternal fav drink:
YUK! (yeah that's the name, if y'all wanna know how it works, it's not just a drink or a game, it's an experience) just ask for it, and i'll post it for you.
I just have to see if there is a demand for it from the hardcore fans out there!

Kevin,
I am planning a trip to Ireland this summer! Short notice, but if it works out, I will be drinking Guiness in an authentic Irish pub! How awesome is that? Have you ever been there or desire to go?
Gerwurtraminer is a German wine, I guess, but mostly I have had ones that came out of Napa. I would also really like to plan a little weekend getaway to Napa in the fall, right around harvest time. I am so close, but have not been! Gerwurt. is kinda light, easy to take. not as dry as Chardonnay. Maybe too sweet for some? Chile does have great wine! I have recently had Cabernet and Chardonnay (I think?) from there, and they were both quite nice! My fave wine memory was when I went to France when I was 20 and smuggled a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau back to California. I was sooo nervous at Customs, but they didn't even question me!
Also, I hear Australia has great Shiraz. Have you tried that? I just recently did...got a $10 bottle from the grocery store. That's what I like about wine. You can get the cheap kind and it still tastes good, before you invest in the more expensive bottles!

Please excuse my short intervention here....
That wine is actually called Gewuerztraminer, literally translated from German: "spicy (from the town of) Tramin" (Tramin is a town in the German speaking province of Southern Tyrole in the Italian Alps) - just in case anybody cares.

Hey there,
I actually spent six months in Dublin last year. Council Travel can get you a work visa if you're a student or recent graduate. You'll love it there! Just note that the Guinness over there is different than it is here. It goes down a little lighter and smoother with a slightly bitter taste. Over here it's much thicker for some strange reason. In Ireland you would never consider having a Black&Tan. Corrupting your Guinness is like sacrelidge(sp?) Anyway, if you want advice about pubs in Dublin or youth hostels I can fill you in.
