I'm grateful that I live so close to Convention. I live 15 minutes from the Ontario airport, 25 minutes from John Wayne airport, and 40 minutes away from Palm Springs. SWEET!
(not that I'm rubbing it in any way b/c at next convention, I'll probably be amazingly far away)

So are you staying at the resort for the weekend? So your convention cost is a room, registration and meals and workshops etc.? If you don't mind me asking, make us all jealous and tell us what you get to pay.
And for those who've been in the past...I know that initiations happen at convention, has Order ever occurred?

Convention
I'm going but it will be the most expensive I have attended so far. I've been to 5, last four staright. The real kicker is that for those of us on the east coast the airfare is quite pricey to fly into Palm Springs, add that to all the extra meals you will be responsible for, that's 8 if you don't leave at the crack of dawn on Sunday, and the additional cost of the room if you don't want to share, or are bringing someone else with you as I am, I have calculated it is going to cost me at least$1000-$1500 above my convention allowance!. I'm seriously considering driving from Ontatrio or Orange county airports because of the difference in costs and also the availability of flight times. Anyone have any information about how it would be to drive from the airports? But regardless of the costs I am looking forward to going!

I am flying out of Dulles into Palm Springs with 1 stop. It was just under $500 on travelocity. Are you from DC, as one could infer from your username?

No I'm not. I live in the West Palm Beach FL area. dc are my initials and the rest is Sigma Kappa Omega which of course was my college chapter and initiation year. I have found tickets from Ft Lauderdale for around $440, however my Mom lives in Tallahassee and flights from there range from $750-800, but the times in and out of Palms Springs are the killers. I'll work it out soon.lol

So I'm going to register but I don't know who I will be rooming with. It's going to be an adventure rooming with people I don't know since my SK friends from over here are either part-time registrants or are rooming with someone else. Shoot.

Well I'm pretty sure I'm going so our room will be fiestas centrales. That was probably horrible spanish. But I don't like tequila, sorry. Unless it's Cabo Wabo. Which is too damn expensive.
And I really want to go through Order because I haven't been able to yet. When I do go back to school to finish my degree I don't think I can go active again, nor do I really want to. I'll probably be like 26 or 27 by that time. I'd like to see initiation from the other side too. The only one I've been to is my own.
Hopefully I'll get my second foot surgery done and then I'll be fighting fit and ready to come hang out with all of you. It'll be a big sigkap party at a gorgeous resort. I don't want to miss it.

It turns out that the start of Convention is the last day of school for my kiddies. Since it is a minimum day and Registration lasts from 1 - 6 pm, I'm as soon as my last student is gone, I'm leaving work and going to pick up another sister, and we're hitting Convention. YAY!
I think we'll be at the hotel somewhere between 2:30 and 3 pm. I'm so excited. I wish it was June already...well almost.
ETA: BOTH my initiation chapter and my alumnae chapter are hosting reunions. I haven't decided yet if I want to go to any of the reunions. If I do decide, I'll end up going to the reunion luncheon of my chapter of initiation, Gamma Theta.
ETA: I just printed out my reunion booklet too as a handy reference guide.
Can't you tell I'm thrilled?

I don't know yet. I'm excited at the thought of playing dress-up but I don't know what to wear. Who should I dress up as? I don't look like any celebrity but I have always loved Rita Hayworth and Audrey Hepburn. Classic & elegant looks that I can wear. Or perhaps I should go for something more flashy and dress up as a current celebrity? *sigh* The options are endless.
Must. Go. Shopping!
Mike suggested I dress up as Willie Nelson.
