I picked all the winners before the show so no surprises...well I thought Listen would win but it is sorta contrived, like they were going for a big song. A song that could win.

FYI Oscar nominations will be announced January 23rd.

DAYUM @ the picture!

ETA: I LOVE MJB and Re Re's "Never Gonna Shake My Faith". That song is WONDERFUL!
I wished it would have won!

Can't wait 'til next month...

Just like Nupe4Life, I picked all the winners beforehand, so no surprises for me either. Sorry to say, but I wasn't really rooting for Beyonce' to win (in either category, certainly NOT for Best Actress {Musical/Comedy}). I knew Meryl Streep had that in the bag; she played the hayle outta that role as Miranda Priestley! I just don't think much of B as an actress, even in a musical.

Can't wait for the Oscar nods to be announced next Tuesday! I will be setting my alarm to watch them *LIVE* (as I always do)! It's my 3rd favorite day of the year!!!

Remember, the GGs are kinder to African-Americans than the Oscars are. I usually don't watch shows like this (too long and too boring) but the only time I watch the Oscars is if I know black folks are going to win. I may have to watch it this year.

Delph, it's typical Hollywood advertising. The big name sells the movie and is put first - even if she doesn't have the biggest role. They are trying to sell movies, not assess who had the biggest role. Many people went to see Dreamgirls for *Beyonce* not for Jennifer Hudson (who was still a relative no name until after the movie debuted and after last night). Even though she was on American Idol, she has not been around as long as and does not have as many fans as Beyonce. It's not fair but that's obviously how they roll in Hollywood.

Just curious to know how you all think Jennifer feels about that. I even think Oprah was foul for allowing Beyonce to come out before Jennifer when she had the cast on her show. Jennifer was the main character.

Stardust, what about those that play by ear but don't read music? Does anyone know if Beyonce plays instruments?

I don't know. It seems to me that one can pick up any cd and see someone on their talking about songwriter and I bet that many of those folk don't *read* music. Isn't part of the song that is written the *words*? Maybe she wrote the words.

Who knows,

ETA: She cried? Poor thing. How horrible to have the whole world see you lose your composure. That must have been hard.

ETAA: I just heard Jennifer Hudson's rendition of that Jennifer Holliday song. She ripped it! It just seems like all the best talent comes out of the Chi. LOL. Ok, shameless plug.

Look at how the other nominees are listed. The girl can't read or write music so why are they fronting on the credits? They might have been able to get away with it if they listed her as a contributor to the lyrics only. I just get tired of all these young "singers" who cant' be bothered to learn their craft. James Brown death reminded me how short the artist of today really are compared to generations past (now his personal life was a mess but he was a musician).

Beyonce' who??

Ya'll know that Bianca, or BeBe or Beyonce', or whatever her name is, is a whack singer. She falls into the same category as does, a Janet Jackson. Non-singing, no talent, just the look and the attitude, now, Ms. Hudson on the other hand did the damn thang, and, Ms. Noni Juice wasn't bad either.

Now I am no Beyonce fan, but the girl can sing pretty well. Every time I've heard her sing live (Oprah, etc) she tore it up!

Is she a patch on Jennifer Hudson? Nope- not only can JHud SANG but she can emote- which Beyonce can't do- I never get a lot of emotion out of her songs.

Beyonce was lip synching on Oprah, but she can sing.

The Golden Globe winners USUALLY win the Oscar, or are at least favorites to win.
