She can't read music? Writing words/lyrics has nothing to do with being able to read notes etc. She may not be able to read a music sheet, but I'm sure she can READ words that turn into lyrics. LOL

You didn't misunderstand - we just may not agree. The award is suppossed to be for
creating the best original song not for singing it - otherwise it would be named best
performance of a song. Look at how the other nominees are listed. The girl can't read or write music so why are they fronting on the credits? They might have been able to get away with it if they listed her as a contributor to the lyrics only. I just get tired of all these young "singers" who cant' be bothered to learn their craft. James Brown death reminded me how short the artist of today really are compared to generations past (now his personal life was a mess but he was a musician).
