I'm in Texas and I've never heard of a SGR / IPT alliance. Maybe this is regional.

I'd have to agree with what my Sorhors have said already:

1. Don't let one bad experience color your thoughts on an org.
and
2. We (SGR) don't need a brother org.

With all due respect, we all know that no org. needs another organization to do their thing. But isn't it nice when we can all come together and do positive things for our communities and each other?

Either way.......Let's bury this topic again if it is going to cause some negativity on this board *this is a public service announcement brought to you by the Iota Preventative Measures Committee *

Returning to our regularly scheduled program............

Whatever the beef was, it has been long forgotten, and now we hug when we see each other.
I had an opportunity to see the SGRhos from Chi-town step and they were off the chain at our National Convention this year.
And we are having a party with the ladies too.
I love all the ladies of the NPHC, but the SGRhos are one of my favorite!
Hey frat, I am glad to hear that the relations between them and you guys have improved. This world is much better with peace.

Much luv to all organizations as we all stand for such noble ideals.

Cool yes to iphi and sgrho

hey whassup fellow greeks....i would have to agree with some of the comments that were made as far as i think it is a good idea for sgrho and iphit to become supportive of each other.....there is no harm in showing golden love...understand that my frat my have had some bad experiences but hey that does not mean you feel that way about them all....my cousin just crossed sigma and i love them to death man.....we are real cool with the sgrhos on our campus and they always support us...iphit and sgrho do have a great understanding of each other and that is what makes us connect....i like the fact personally that in some places we are tight like that with them....frat i love you man but even though you had a bad experience with some of the ladies of sgrho...man you should not have taken it out like you did bruh because actually they are some really cool women....to be exact they are one of the coolest sororities in the d9.....

as for me and may chapter located at jacksonville state university now epsilon omicron chapter we will always support them because above all i respect they struggle and what they stand for and i think many of them feel the same about us.....so if you ask me i would consider them my sorors because they are what sisterhood is all about...and that is coming from a man who is proud of the brown and gold......there is no other greater....i give respect to all but sgrho is one of my favorites also...so for the sgrho that ask was there a chapter yes there are two here in alabama one is at alabama state university and here in jacksonville...and to the ladies of sigma....don't think bad of us....cuz the majority of us love you....

OW OW
I'M OWT!!!!!

Exclamation Maybe so...

Personally,
I wouldnt mind having sister org. But we have to remember that we are able to stand alone. I give respect to all SGRhos. The ones at our chapter Alpha Psi, show us alot of love and respect. And that is why there is several alliances at different schools. But on that note, showt owt to all my BROS

holla at us at iotasatrutgers@yahoo.com -alpha psi Rutgers University

IOTA AND SGRHO

WASSUP FRAT,

Of course there is no national alliance between Theta men and SGRho's. However, in many cases, SGRho and Iota have bonded with each other because of a mutual repsect and understanding of each other. This is the same with every alliance. Not all Alpha's and AKA's share a bond. I've seen some schools where AKA and Kappa's "claim" each other. I'm not justifying this alliance or talking against it but the ladies of SGRho at the Eta Tau chapter here in Hattiesburg, MS have shown us nothing but love from the day we arrived on campus. We go to parties together, do community service together, even make up new party walks together. It's all out of love that we share with each other. If you've had bad experiences on either side at your respective schools then that's fine but you have to look at the grander scheme of things. Though we are all affiliated with different organizations, we are all greek. We have to stick together and rise over stereotypes, petty differences, and the like if we are to achieve anything great. Now that I've gotten the serious stuff out of the way, everybody check out the goldenluvaffair group out on yahoo.com. It's for all Iota Phi
Theta and Sigma Gamma Rho members.

Ow-Ow!

Ladygreek -

Let me see if I can clear this up. Theta Men is an old-school term that originated at Alpha Chapter in the '60's and is primarily used by Brothers among the Brothers. (We have a old song called "Theta Man" that I'm not sure any of the younger Brothers even know! )

From a "Proper Protocol" and "Preferred Practice" standpoint, we prefer to be called "Iotas" or "Iota Men."

IotaNet

P.S. In spite of all of this, quite often we simply get referred to as "Them Damn Iotas!" ... and we don't mind that either!

Thank you D. Just wanted to be respectful. And you will never hear me saying "Them Damn Iotas." I treasure your friendship and respect the tenacity of your Frat.

I am new to the forum but I see that there has been a lot of discussion about an Sgrho/ iphit alliance. I personally think that it is all love and fun. The way things are now, we don't have a fraternity that we are constitutionally bound to and that is cool. However, on many campuses my sorors and members of Kappa Alpha Psi have Indiana Love and thats cool too. On different campuses there are different alliances. And when you leave the campus and go out into the world, you'll be surprised how many frat/soror "alliances", "relationships" that there are. And its all in fun and love and respect for each other. I have been hearing about this alliance or desire to build this alliance since I was a freshman in college in 1996 before I became a soror. And even more after I crossed. And I have always noticed how much love the Iotas showed my sorors. Even recently I met a soror who told me that on her campus, our sorors and the Iotas were tight. They did community service projects and had parties together. I have a deep respect for Iota men mainly because of their tenacity, bravery and the ideals on which they founded their fraternity. And partially because my college sweetheart and husband is a proud Iota man. I love and respect him and his organization and if there was actually a real alliance that was going down,I think it would be cool. But always, always remember that Sigma women are strong women and don't need a brother organization to back us up. But much love to the men of
Iota Phi Theta.
And to my sorors, Rhoyal Blue hugs and Gold kisses!!
EEEEE-YYYYYYYYIIIIIIIIPPPPP!!!!

From the Genius

Hey ya'll I agree with ladygreek...don't get so bent out of shape

Love one another....in the end we ALL ARE GREEKS!! and proud of it.

It doesn't matter if you have your regionals together, your conclave together (boule) whatever...that does not make you a brother/sister organization and you don't have to work together or claim one another...although that would be an absolute shame on both your parts since...like I said before WE ARE ALL GREEKS...TOGETHER!!

I know sometimes its hard to kill that brother/sister bond that the Iotas and SGrhos are going through because when people across the nation see you together...they automatically group you together...its called AFFLIATION BY ASSOCIATION.

But why would you want to get rid of that bond...look honestly we are all brother and sister organziation...we need to stop getting so caught up in commercialism. Thats not healthy.

But whatever...love your org...love others and Seek GOD.

Love and Respect

I enjoy the love and respect that all Greek organizations show. I didn't know these alliances were such a big issue until I started reading on these forums. I firmly believe in the strength and independence of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes it seems like SGRho is the foster organization that nobody wants. In the words of somebody... "can't we all just get along"!
