Or the same company Gap, Old Navy, Banana Rep. all the same company, but Gap large is HUGE on me and Old Navy XL is small????

Before my mom had me, she wore what in the 70s a size 7/8. She's 5'5 and weighed 100-105 at that time. I guess that's probably a 1/2 by 2006 standards.
I was just joking. Maybe. lol

See, that's what I mean. If a size 00 is really equal to a size 4 then it should just be called a size 4!

If anyone needs vanity sizing it's the plus sized girls, but guess what you don't have that. Sizes start at a 14 or a 1X and go from there. The closest I've seen to vanity sizing in a plus sized clothing store is an X.

Slightly off topic, but I hate how maternity clothes are sized. They tell you that you'll need the same size as you wear in normal clothes but that isn't true. I'm 2-4 when not pregnant and I was swimming in the maternity 4, even with my huge stomach.

And truthfully, an X size still wouldn't make me feel better.

Exactly!

Whether I'm a size 4 or 14 or 44. If that's the size I am, that's the size I am. If the clothes fit properly and I look good, then I don't care what the tag says. No one sees but me (or Mr. Pi Phi, and he doesn't care what the tag says), so why should I care what the tag says?

Not sure I understand what you mean by "If anyone needs vanity sizing it's the plus sized girls"??

I know a girl who wears a size 00...she's TINY..but healthy. And trust me...a size 00 (at least with this girl) a size 4 would be gi-normous on her!! A size 0 is big on her...and a size 1 is baggy.

Abercrombie sizes are so wack. I have a sweater from my freshman year of high school that is a M. It was HUGE on me then and since I've gained a ton of weight, it is now a little snug. I have a sweater from my senior year that is an XL that I am giving away because it is too small - smaller than the M. I don't even try to fit in their clothes anymore.

First, let me just say that I am a plus sized girl. Also, I wasn't trying to insult anyone.

If there was vanity sizing for plus sizes (say a size 4 was actually a size 14) I'm sure that would make me feel good as it would many other plus size women. But there is, nor do I really think there needs to be.

I'm not really explaining myself well am I? Please know that it was not meant as an insult to anyone, only that, generally speaking, plus size women are more self conscious with their sizing than say a smaller women and vanity sizing would be more appropriate for plus size clothing (generally speaking of course).

Abercrombie sizes have gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Some of my friends that are smalls in most normal stores have to buy Larges in Abercrombie.

A size 4 in a line of clothing that has 00 and 0 might be ginormous on her, but it wouldn't be that big if a size 4 is the smallest available. E.g. an H&M 4 is the same size as a GAP 0 (!)

The absolute worst is Hollister. My sister loves that store, but she can hardly fit into any of the clothes and she's not big at all.
