What is a good moderator? It seems like a lot of the most offensive posts come from moderators.

Sorry you feel that way. I think that most moderators try to be as fair and respectful as possible.

I would urge you to PM those with whom you have issues, or if you're not comfortable with that, let John, the board administrator know.

Heck, if that's our criteria, nominate me.

I've been on this board longer than, well, almost every active poster (hello OTW, you still have me beat )...however, I don't post very often. (Don't think I'm not paying attention now, just because I don't say anything, doesn't mean I haven't been reading all the lunatic ramblings. This is a highly "entertaining" group on this board.)

So anyway, just on a purely numerical analysis of the few posts I do make, I am less likely to get all y'all crazy people riled up. (Does anyone else think that there are GC'ers that log on just for the SOLE purpose of getting their panties in a bunch?!)

I am kidding, of course. If I was a mod, I might have to post more often.

Have fun!

I think Honeychile is one of the best moderators... I don't think there is a single person in our forum who doesn't like and respect her. And she is very fair and does a good job of making sure that our adpi forum portrays our sorority well.

There's my 2 cents.

I'm not out to rat on moderators. I really don't care one way or another. If a post offends me, I try to avoid that thread and move on. I'm a grown up and can handle it. My point is that earlier in this thread I interpreted some posters to question Tom's position as a moderator because they find his posts offensive. If that is grounds for expelling a mod, there would certainly be others. And if Tom's posts are offensive only in the mod area, at least that isn't out here where everyone can read it and be offended. I have no idea if Tom is offensive or not because I can't ever understand his posts.

Off the top of my head, DeltAlum, moe.ron, and KillarneyRose have always seemed pretty reasonable.

My point in my original comment is that *some* people like to talk isht about me, Dani, OTW, and others (depending on the situation) because we have an extreme dislike for many of Tom's views (racist, sexist, etc.) - the intent was not to say "let's have a big vote on who stays and who goes" - simply to say that people shouldn't judge our comments solely on what they read in the public forums (because much of it goes on behind closed doors if you will). That's not to say that I'm here to air all the dirty laundry - simply to say you may not know the whole story just by what you see posted on public boards.

irishpipes - I don't want you to misinterpret my post - it is not to you, or about you, but rather in direct reply to the reason for my earlier post. I have no problem with you, or your comments here, whatsoever - I just didn't want it to look like I was jumping on you for something.

It didn't come across to me as you jumping all over me. It's all good.
