Talking

As a nongreek I'm glad to see this topic. I think as an outsider, its disappointing to see girls that want to be a part of an organization sooo bad become greek, and then it seems as if there journey just stops once they become greek. Its nice to come on here and hear all that you have accomplished, after all, I wanted to become a greek to be involved in activities you can't be apart of as a nongreek, so whats the point of not doing anything when you have the opportunity. Not to stir up anything, but to be real, after seeing my schools chapter sooo living up to everything that turns people away from being greek, I myself wondered at times if I was still interested, so coming on here and seeing this topic reminded me that my school is a small portion of a huge organization and not a reflection of it. Earlier today I was talking to a friend who is an AKA, and she told me how she agrees that its sad to see chapters of girls that are not active on campus, so it was nice to come on here and see girls that are

I serve as my Chapter’s treasurer (this year is my second term), chair of the Finance Committee, and a member of both the Fundraising and Bylaws Committees. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, I planned a Breast Cancer Awareness program in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, entitled Think Pink: It's the Color of Hope. That program will be carried out this year. I am also the chair of Minority Cancer Awareness week and our program on fiscal fitness for college students. I’ve also attended the South Central Region Undergraduate Round- up, the Southern Louisiana Undergraduate Call, and I am registered for the South Central Regional Conference to be held in April.

My main purpose for pursuing membership was to be able to service the community with young women of like mind and capabilities. It gives me great personal satisfaction to know that my Sorors and I are making a difference. I truly believe that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is “a gateway to service, not a stepping stone to status.”

Since I am "technically" still a neo...

guess I can jump in the dialogue (LOL).

I have chaired several committees including standards, public relations, awards, and connection; chaired a major connection event; served on the bylaws and program committees; and was elected as ILR.

Attended a national founder's day celebration, a boule (where I served as a delegate), a leadership conference, three clusters, two regionals, and two public policy conferences.

And I ain't even started yet........
