Ha. That would be Phi Psi with the Ugly Troll. I know a few girls from a certain sorority that all got pictures taken with it...something to be proud of or whatever. I'll just say that the girls right deserved to be in a picture with the ugly troll.

I'm just curious, but isn't some of this a risk managment issue? We were never allowed to do hunts, or knowingly help other groups in case hazing was an issue. And what if someone is sneaking in and gets hurt, aren't their liablity issues. I'm just curious.

Um did these girls not know what the troll meant? I'd never want to be in a picture with it!!

Right before Thanksgiving break the whole sign disappeared.There's just a frame and base where the sign was.

Again?!?!? It was pretty much completely wrecked in 2002/2003 with a temporary painted sign in place for about a year. I knew the Parent's club/house board was going to replace the it this year, but it's so unfortunate it was damaged again. Funny how the one that used to be there originally stood for over 20 years without a problem.

That's also why the composite at the house is displayed in a locked case.

For me if another fraternity steals anything of my fraternities those are fighting words, if a sorority steals something that doesn't have letters as a prank its ok. The reason I stumbled across this site is cause just yesterday some freind of my younger sister stole my hoody and I caught the girls boyfreind WEARING IT. Let me tell you how far I took it, I walked over to him and he could tell I was pissed, and I said take them letters off right now...his reply was "What's the big deal?" that was the last thing he got to say. About 10 min later after I beat the snot out of the kid and physically pulled the hoody off him as he lay on the ground, him or his girlfreind will never EVER make that mistake again. So be careful which fraternities and which brothers you do it to. Some take it less seriously then others. For me being a brother isn't just a college thing anymore as I have graduated. Its a way of life for me, its what motivates me and what drives me and to see someone wearing my letters that has no idea the commitment it takes to wear those letters..they will get a real quick education from me.

so it's not okay for a kid to wear your letters, even though he doesn't really understand the significance of them, why he shouldn't, etc. but it's okay for you to "beat the snot" out of him? Way to represent your fraternity. How about educating the kid instead of using violence?

For the record I don't think it's okay for someone to wear someone else's letters, but some kids don't know any better or don't know why it's wrong. That doesn't mean you should cause physical harm to them! If you really did "beat the snot" out of him, he should've called the police and you would've had some nice charges against you.

Now days, there aren't really any greek houses near or on campus anymore. There were quite a few when I was an active. I just remember being at a fraternity house for a party and seeing another sorority's composite sitting behind a couch.
My girls have stolen paddles from off the walls of houses that left their doors open (which is just dumb to begin with) along with trophies and whatnot. Pretty sure they all got returned.
We are pretty good at TPing though.

stealing from other greeks is an old fun tradition. As long as stuff gets returned in a couple days, I see no harm done. I remember when one fraternity hit all the houses on the street (including their own) and left it all on our front porch to pin us. Obviously we woke up and returned all the items to their houses and said "we didn't know how it got stolen." It was all pranks and jokes, and part of the college experience.

I think it's just a pride thing, to get your rush signs, charter, or letters stolen is a sacred item to a chapter and makes them look vulnerable and weak. Let them talk shit but return the stuff anonymously if you're afraid of repercussions from this stunt.

Or better yet, duct tape the members who stole the stuff and leave them with a note at the front door of victim's house with the stolen items. I'm sure that tale will be told for years to come...

So I am an Alpha Gam @ Eastern Michigan University. I happen to know a lot of PSK's and stealing someones letters is just not cool. It is stealing something that is sacred to them and they have secret meaning.

How you gonna educate someone that isnt in a fraternity, I don't think there is any real way to express what it actually means to be greek to someone thats not. This kid stole from me, and even if it wasn't letters I probobly would of done something to him, Im normally a really easy going person but one thing that does put me over the edge are theives. Also when I said it was a set of letters, It was a hoody of mine that I got the day I got in, it has my pledge name on the back of it. Im not gonna waste my time trying to explain to some loser who doesnt even go to college the meaning of being greek and why it is so bad to wear my hoody. What would you really do if you saw someone wearing your hoody with your name on the back of it?

Bottom line is that it doesn't give you the right to physically harm someone!

If you're so concerned with the value and meaning of your letters, maybe you should think about how to apply the principles and values of your fraternity to your life. I don't know of any group who's principles and values would justify causing physical harm to someone else. I'm pretty sure that's directly contrary

When I met my husand, he had magnets on his dorm fridge from every sorority house on campus. He was so proud of that

This year a guy on the row started mooning people. I thought it was the funniest thing ever. He would just take off running from his house-drop his pants in front of another house-and run back home. The deans had a fit and he got into so much trouble. I just thought it was funny

This thread makes me laugh! It brings back lots of memories of my freshman year with my pledge class! On our campus, if your letters are out ANYWHERE

they are fair game to get stolen. Normally they are returned after the guys cook for us or we have a function with them just hanging out at the house. The pledges at one house on campus are required to have their fraternity's letters inside the house no later than 5pm on a few days during the week.....that means that after 5 they are just waiting for someone to take them!

Since at my school we don't have sorority houses, we carry the "stolen" letters back to our suite, which is in the middle of campus and put them in the windows that face our library. Everyone walks by it on the way to class and sees whose letters which sorority has.

As far as the guys playing pranks on us, their latest episode was Homecoming when they took every sorority's letters from in front of our suites (we were trying to promote for homecoming tailgating and our events planned for the day) and put them on top of their house!

It was funny to drive by their house on campus during the week and seeing all the sorority letters up there!

But, all this is done in a good nature, everything is returned, and no one has ever got upset about it. It's never got out of control, mainly because everyone knows that it's a tradition and it is all fun and games! Plus, it makes a lot of memories!
