My cousin is a weirdo & a biatch. When she was 15, she desperately wanted a quincanera (that's a coming out party in the Mexican culture) but she didn't have any friends to be her ladies of honor. That "wonderful" job fell to her female relative which included me, my little sister, and another cousin among others. We were forced to wear midnight blue taffeta monstrosities with fake pearls as jewelry. My aunt insisted we had matching hair so we looked like valley girl rejects from the 1980's. Too much AquaNet!
My poor brother was forced to be her escort. She as exciting as paint drying. She sat most of the time hunched up & wouldn't talk to anybody. Finally, halfway through the misery of the party, some fugly guy walks in & she runs up to him to dance. It turns out he was her secret boyfriend but she told him that I had an STD and that my cousin was a lesbian b/c she did not want him to pay attention to us. I had to endure family members asking if I really had herpes. I was pissed as well as my mom. My poor aunt apparently slapped her that night for talking so badly about he own family. That was the last time I saw this cousin.

I have an uncle by marriage who really creeps me out - I can totally see him being like a child abuser or something.

I know I've already mentioned my mother-in-law on this thread. I've put up with her for my husband's sake, but now I have officially HAD IT with her. She was over at our house yesterday between Yom Kippur services, and she completely lost her temper over ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I have absolutely no idea what set her off, but suddenly she was whining about what a bitch I was and how she wanted to go home. It's not like she was upset because she was hungry, because she wasn't fasting. (Do you have any idea how hard it is to fast when you're watching someone stuff their face??)
My husband, the peacemaker, tried to placate her, but I was like "don't let the door hit you in the ass." A little later on, she and I sat down together and tried to smooth things over - at least I was trying to smooth things over - the bitch wouldn't let it go. So she is no longer welcome in my house.
I find it incomprehensible that such a sweet, polite, level-headed, gentlemanly young man as my husband could have come from the womb of such a total she-devil.
OK, I feel better now. </rant>

Well, my future mother-in-law seems so nice & conservative. Then the isht hit the fan with me. Here are a few of the things she's said & done.
* Invited my relatives to dinner then told all her friends how no one spoke english & it was weird having a bunch of Mexicans over for dinner. Said she stuck out being the white lady in the group. F.Y.I. My entire family speaks, reads, & writes english very well so I don't know what crawled up her ass to lie about us this way. Also born here not in Mexico. Only been to Mexico twice as a matter of fact & both times were for vacation purposes.
* I was invited to a european cruise by HER brother's family. She told them that I hate children so I absolutely would not go. Would not give them my # either so they could talk to me personally. Ran into them on accident one day & learned the story. Just b/c I may not want to have children does not mean I hate them. Too late for the cruise. It's all booked.
* Refused to see the dress I bought for a themed party b/c she thought the theme was to risque (think Chicago) so she gave me dresses from her closet to wear instead. Ummm...I'm a size 10 & she's a 22. Get the picture?
* Anytime I wear open-toed strappy high heels she refers to them as slut shoes. Keeps trying to get me to wear her shoes.
* Finally, a good friend & neighbor is terminally ill. Probably less than a week left. She used his illness as an excuse to keep my bf from leaving & moving out. Had the mans wife ask my bf not to leave. He couldn't say no the the nice lady so he cancelled his plans of moving out.

Even when I was in a different state in college my sister made my life miserable b/c my parents would call me to see if she called me or tell me about her escapades when on the phone.
Then this summer I had the pleasure of living at home and dealing with her. Oh the joy of playing parent #3.
Now 5 states away I still get the joy of hearing about her actions and how she is a loser.
I swear she's going to either end up in jail, knocked up, or on jerry springer b/c she needs money.
Thank god for my sorority sisters who have been there for me.
Oh and my parents are currently on the isht list b/c they are fighting over our house before they get a divorce. WHO CARES, SELL IT AND EACH GET ON WITH YOUR LIVES!! NEITHER ONE OF YOU CAN AFFORD IT ON THEIR OWN!!!

I am pretty fortunate for the most part because I love most of my family. However, we do have my grandmother, God love her, who has always said what she wanted, when she wanted, and didn't care how it affected other people. She's a very strong willed woman, and boy, did the isht hit the fan when she met my hubby. 9 years later and one grandchild, they still can't get along. I swear, I've never seen one woman who could get in a snide remark as a backhanded compliment. Unreal.

Ummm...how do you refer to your significant other's mother as your "future mother in law," but refer to him as your "boyfriend"?
Something. Does. Not. Compute.

Try asking her if you can bring a talking Chihuahua (like the one on the Taco Bell commercial) and insist that all Mexican families have one.

I cannot stand my maternal grandmother. My dad is the first runner up. Seriously, I think of her as dirt sometimes. I feel really guilty for thinking that way, but I'm being real. I cannot stand my grandmother because of her personality (self-centered, clinging, aggressive, manipulative) and my father because of his views (we have opposite views on almost everything!). It goes a lot deeper than this, but I don't want to air too much dirty laundry. I'm glad that I'm not alone.

Forgot to take the pills today? Do you want to write this with another username? Perhaps throw in an irrelevant comment or two?

I'll field this one, Rudith, thanks.
You know what I hate? Hooker shoes. You know the ones I mean? THICK soles so the heels can be extra high. I just don't think those are hot. And I like me some high heels, too. Lingerie, even. But hooker shoes? Just no.
Maybe boys like them and that's why they're prevalent. Just like the "girls wearing baseball hats" thing. I don't get that either and I know guys love it.
