Did anyone else watch the $50,000 wardrobe makeover? The woman that was selected was beautiful. I LOVED her hair!! Her fashion sense was a bit wacky, but I liked her style. The wardrobe that she got was B-A-N-G-I-N-G!!! That Christian LaCroix suit was GORGEOUS!!!
Now, as for the haircut.... I like the fact that the hair color was blended, but I think that they should have given her some more color, or maybe even highlights. WTF does Nick make all women with natural hair look like Lisa Simpson? I could see that she did need a trim, but why cut the hair short in the back and leave it longer up top? He could have trimmed about an inch all around and she would have been good to go. Carmindy didn't do too badly this time, but she wasn't great either. In the end, I think that the haircut/makeup combo took away from her youthful look. She was still pretty, but in an older kind of way. The youthful look was kind of refreshing.
Can one of y'all please nominate me? I'll give you my address!

I liked her style as well. But she REALLY needed some help on how to make her style more polished and put together and not so....random.
I agree Nick should have put some highlights or something in her hair. He is always quick to put some highlights in somebody's hair. I think because (like most hair stylists) they don't know what to do with natural textured hair and he did the next best thing....made her look like she stuck her finger in a socket. I could tell she didn't like it.
and the clothes....That LaCroix suit was off the hook! I think my favorite house she went to was Moschino.
And I don't think I'm that bad of a dresser...but I'll look a hot mess to get a new wardroobe!

She was just sitting there like "....uh, yeah... I...I...like it...." She has that "I'm gonna wash this mess as soon as I leave here" look on her face. Nick (and some other Caucasian stylists) act as if African-American is poisonous or something. At the end of the style, he asked her if she would be able to manage it! Nick darling, we can do the dayum thing with our hair!!!
They need to do like Queer Eye. They should change the stylists to go with the person. I saw an episode of QE with a guy that had locs. They took him to Khamit Kinks to get his locs washed and tightened. That's what WNTW should do. That way, people of color will get appropriate styles.

For some reason my dvr did not record it. I don't know what happened. I have the episode with the cop, but not the $50K episode. I'm mad. Hopefully it will come on sometime this week.

I hated the hair also! I'm glad he didn't try to straighten it.
I loved the clothes and the makeup!

I agree that they should change the stylists sometimes. Carmindy can get condescending with people who just aren't into makeup. And Nick - well, he seems a little hesitant around Af-Am hair. I'll admit, homegirl's color choice was a little extreme, but couldn't we have gone w/ some highlights, a little something to make it multi-tonal???? I think he took away some of her spark.

I thought he did highlight it, but I couldnt see anything. I wasn't really feeling her hair's shape, I was just kind of there. But that suit was TIGHT TO DEF!!! I was not feeling the multi colored coat, though. lol.. I want Stacey to go shoe shopping with me!!!
I admit Carmindy is a little heavy handed with the skin assessments , but she usually does a really good job. I'm one who doesnt like to wear makeup, but I like her work.
Co-sign on the going to specialty hair shops for non-caucasian people..

i finally saw it. i think that her hair looked better the next day, which happens to me all of the time. i'm glad clinton was there to let them know that she needs a WARDROBE and not just 10 really expensive pieces. and i don't know if she's just soft-spoken or humble or what but homegirl didn't seem as happy as i know i would have been with a $50,000 shopping spree in paris!!

Anyone watching tonight? What is up with Naima's hair? her real hair was BROKEN and she STILL refused to get id of the weave. It looked like a bird's nest in the front.

MAN I'm glad I wasn't the only one... I thought I was crazy the way they were guffawing over how much better it looked. Homegirl's tracks were a HOT MESS and if anything he should have redone her extensions if she still wanted the long look (although she would be beautuful with short hair. She has a gorgeous face) I would say that that's another example of how they need to have someone else do the Af-Am hair, but they know how to do extensions too!

That's what I was thinking too!! WHY work AROUND some knotted, ratty, old weave when you can just redo it? Is it a time crunch kind of situation? If so, I can understand, but her hair was a HOT JANKY MESS!!!
I think a short, spiky cut would have been nice on her. Some women just can't let go of the long hair... even if it's not theirs.

Did anyone watch the show today? It's been a while since I've watched it, but I saw it on the TV Guide so I watched. They had a special with the What Not To Wear Wanna Be's.
I don't remember their names but the guy stylist on the green team got on my last nerves. I can't stand insecure people like that who feel the need to validate themselves by constantly reminding people of their accomplishments. The makeup artist was pretty cool though. Some of the girls from my dorm freshman year could have run circles around the hairstylist in that group. I don't get what was so fabulous about what she did. Now that I'm done venting, I think their final product was the best. The lady looked nice, but the stylists need to learn some manners.
With the red team, the guy stylist just seemed a little sloppy to me. I wouldn't want to be taking fashion advice from him. The hairstylist seemed okay to me, but again I didn't see what was so great with what he did, and definitely didn't see all that shine he kept referencing. Their final product was terrible. It definitely didn't look like it was done by a professional.
With the orange team, I don't even remember hearing the guy stylist speak. The woman stylist tripped me out when she told the hairstylist that she didn't want her to put anything wet on her hair. Me thinks she was afraid of her hair "going back" if it got wet. As for the makeover, I wasn't impressed with the end result, but I also don't think it was bad either. I did like the hair.
Overall I thought it was a good show. I hope someone else saw it or else I’m going to feel real shamed for this long post.
