So I wonder if she's going to bring her camera crew home with her while she's serving the house arrest. Martha Stewert Living: Living in Martha Stewert's home...

I mean, they want cable TV, lights, food, bedding, etc? Let them work for the state so WE don't have to pay for them and get nothing in return. It makes absolutely no sense! When I worked at a city jail (not even a big fancy state prison), they had it so good that I seriously wouldn't have minded spending some time there myself.
The worst thing they had to deal with was these little orange crescent dealies with a pad on them that served as a bed before the inmates were booked. Whatever...
ETA: I'm sicker than I thought! My grammar and all is horrendous! My apologies.

Actually, most federal prisoners are put to work for UNICOR, the federal prison industry conglomerate. Most government-issue furniture and bedding is made by prisoners (I refuse to use the term 'inmates'). More info at http://www.unicor.gov/

There is a federal prison for women in Danbury. It's right across the street from an elementary school. I figure she will probably end up there.
By the time she's served her time, there will be gourmet meals in the prison cafeteria and lots of little decorative pillows on the inmates' beds.

And little flower boxes outside each "cell" window.

Then why are taxpayers still being charged for the basics? It just doesn't make sense! And, it would be wonderful to have town, city, county and state prisoners on this same program!!!
ETA: I'm particularly disgusted when I hear people use the phrase "3 hots and a cot" or something to that effect. Some people really don't care. BTW, what connotation does "inmate" have for you?

Gee, do you think she's maybe just a little full of herself?
"In her first interview after a federal judge sentenced her to five months in prison, Martha Stewart told Barbara Walters that she cheated no one and compared her ordeal to that of anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela."
Give me a break!

I hope they put her in prison for just as long as Mandela.

Totally unbelivable. Is it possible that she is really that deluded about herself?

Do people even understand how difficult it is in the financial world because of people like her?
there are a million licenses to get. Why? not because they show you know something but because they want to be sure you know the rules.
All your financial statements are analyzed. I can't make a damn trade or buy a stock without my firm and the broker's compliance officer going over it to make sure it's OK.
We can't touch certain financial products. I can't go out and buy an IPO when it hits the market. Because of people like her.
And she has the nerve to say she's Mandella? Her and every damn white collar crook.

The term '3 hots and a cot' actually had its origins back in the Depression years of the 1930s and referred to the military, which was one of the few jobs available at the time. It soon came to mean any place - especially prison - where meals, lodging and the most basic necessities were paid for at government - read: your - expense.
The word "inmate" was coined in the 1970s during the beginnings of the reformation and rehabilitation of prisons. Supposedly, it has a less-negative connotation than 'prisoner'.
Most states do put their prisoners to work - the most tangible evidence being car and truck license tags. They earn a pittance - just enough money to buy stuff from the prison canteen.

Wow. I guess she won't mind being in prison for over two decades since she think her ordeal is the same as Mandela. During that two decades, she also won't mind being being up everyday at 4:30 in the morning to do hard labor for the entire day and have only a bucket in her prison cell to do her "business." Oh yeah, she can't talk to her love one unless it's through a heavily censored letters.
