Martha gets her just desserts. (Pun intended.)

I read on CNN.com that Martha Stewart was sentenced to five months in prison! How do you like them apples?

piphimaggie 07-16-2004 10:49 AM

it's a good thing
;)

ragtimerose 07-16-2004 10:56 AM

Now she'll spend that time decorating her jail cell!

Peaches-n-Cream 07-16-2004 11:10 AM

Really? I feel bad for her. :(

5 months is a light sentence for what she did actually.

I think it's good that they threw the book at her. It may increase awareness in the investment community that it's not "a good thing" to get caught in these sorts of transactions.

On the other side of things, she'd probably be a free woman right now if she weren't Martha Stewart.

I was driving into work this morning and they played a soundbite from out in front of the court house and she walked in for her sentencing. People were cheering and yelling. I was trying to figure out how many of them were supporters and how many were heckling her. Might have been half and half because one voice clearly yelled "Hold your head up high Martha!" It was funny stuff though.

She's not even repentant and thinks it's all OK.

I am so glad that I am not near the courthouses today. I went down there a few times during the trial and the media presence was overwhelming. There were dozens of reporters, cameramen, photographers, etc. It was crazy. I didn't see any fans or detractors, but they might have been there.

I still feel bad for her. My bf does not, but that's because he used to work for her. She used to scream profanities almost daily.

It's definitely a good thing. I was hoping for a longer sentence for her, but at least this could send some sort of message.

I wonder if she'll show the other inmates new techniques for tossing salad?
