Ha.

People are going to think what they want to think about sororities, and that's fine by me. I know I joined a well-respected organization nationally. The opinion of Barb isn't going to make me upset, although she lost respect in my book for being so closed-minded.
Kudos to Ms. Jones for doing what she did!
And honestly, since Greek Chat is cited in her book, I'm sure people will be stopping by to check this place out...
After reading the book, I realized GC is probably where Ms. Robbins got MOST of her material from!
Anyway, this is strictly my opinion!

Might I be so bold as to ask where she cited GreekChat? I read the book & don't remember this part.
Actually, it doesn't really matter b/c you 're right. People will continue to have their views regarding Greeks, the good & bad, but what ultimately matters is what we think about ourselves & our organizations.

greencat, Robbins advocates eliminating a pledge period, quota/total, and live-in requirements; giving a bid to every girl who rushes; and not allowing a chapter to terminate a member unless "responsible adults" are involved (she doesn't specify that these adults need to be sorority members). Do you agree with these recommendations?

CA, she referenced a serenading thread and the quota/release figures thread. That's all I've come across so far.

Well if this film does come to a theatre near you, I'd reccommend that NPC band together and stand outside the theaters and pass out literature that disproves every falsehood in the book.

Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities (2005)

The movie is about 4 women, but the cast (as far as I can tell by just looking @ the names) is all male, except for 1 female!?

Maybe it's going to be like Monty Python (men dressed up as women) and one of the sororities will have a rather stiff parrot.

They also seem like virtual unknowns. It will probably be a b-movie like Going Greek was and end up a flop. I honestly don't think it will be that big of a deal.

Idea....

heres the website:

http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/index.html

The only way to correct something is to go to the source. You can email all of them members of the view on the website. I think you should tell them your point of you. I didn't get to see the episode but maybe if enough people write in they'll make a public apology, not likely but atleast its an attempt to make them understand there is more to sororities then looks, shopping, and our relationships with men. Its Disappointing that Joy Behar didn't stand up for us. Thats one individual who allowed the rest of us to look bad.

I just looked at the site and I think its rather interesting that another guest of the show that day was Donna Mills. I wonder if my DG sister had any thoughts on what the women talked about after her segment was over?

I emailed Barbara and Joy.

Not sure if it will do any good, but if they are true journalists they should look into the other side.

<thought pops into head> not sure if this has been brought up, but perhaps we should all contact NBC and try and do a re-buff of the View <then realizes that perhaps we should not start a war?> hmmmmmmm

Anyone in the neighborhood?

April??? I live in Annapolis, MD, and can probably rally some sisters/greeks.

I'm checking her website now also.

Duh! I guess I was blinded by anger from reading all of this that I did not pay attention to the date...but I'm sure she will appear other places!
Oh, and I just e-mailed Barbara and Joy and gave them my 2-cents. I encourage you all to do the same.

Hey ladies, lets hit the source. She's so full of herself she created her own website all about her! Well guess what the smart little (you know what belongs here) did.... she left her email!!! so lets contact her directly and let her know what we really think of her and her book.

I think that she has gotten enough attention so I will not email her. Anything you do she will use as further evidence to support her negative beliefs about sorority women.
