God Love Barbara Walters & The View

In the spirit of journalism, it's wonderful to tune into a show like The View & see Alexandra Robbins milking her 15 minutes for all it's worth. To hear her misconceptions & generalizations are truly inspiring. It's also great to hear from 2 former sorority gals Joy Behar & Star Jones NOT correct or defend sororities. Finally, to hear Barbara Walters say that she is against sororities is truly amazing. This show is a load of crap.

I saw it too and it made me soo mad! I wanted to get on the show and defend sororities...grrr! Also, when did Alexandra Robbins' change her hair? (I thought it was brown or at least was in the back of Pledged) I almost didn't recognize her...

I didn't get to see it, but it sounds like it was all a load of crap. It's also being discussed in Entertainment... Alexandra Robbins on The View today

Who owns the publishing rights to Robbins' book?

That might explain the hostesses' attitudes towards it.

I don't know anything, it's just a guess.

This woman has a serious grudge against sororities. What is her problem? I wish someone would do an expose on her & her pathetic attempt at sensationalistic "journalism".

Good question. It could turn out to be something like when Disney refused to release Michael Moore's documentary b/c it was so anti-Bush & Disney is good buddies with ABC & the Bush White House. Hmmm...

That's something to look into.

She's not a journalist. She's an author sensationalizing a topic for a profit. And she's getting rich.

If you google the View you can e-mail the cast members of the show. I just left one for Barbara Walters. If you do decide to leave a message just be careful about mentioning your org.

Remember, guys, they ARE TV hosts and whether or not they are greek, they can't appear biased on TV , which is why they probably couldn't defend greek life the way they probably should.

Sure they can!!! It's a magazine show! It's what they do!
Walters came right out and railed about how she's against sororities. What could possibly be more biased than that??

(see the aforementioned thread in Entertainment for further rantings. :p )

I actually looked this up because as a journalism major, the idea that ALL media entities are owned by less than 5 major companies interests me.

"Pledged" was published by Hyperion Books, Inc. which is indeed owned by Disney-the parent company of ABC.

The ladies on "The View" may have been passive to not anger their bosses at Disney.

I too sent an email to Barbara Walters. I did not put the name of Sigma Kappa on it b/c the last thing we need is another excuse to bash sororities. We get enough grief as it is.

However, I completely agree with ktsnake regarding Miss Robbins. She is NOT a journalist.

Which explains how Robbins got booked in the first place.
