What a cute Pug!!!! My boyfriend and a lot of people close to me would KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL L me if I ever dressed Darby up in some of those outfits. Coincedentally, my boyfriend is getting a lot of cookie points this weekend by accompanying me on Sunday to Darby's first "pug party". Since he got all his puppy shots, we are joining a group called Pugs of Long Island that meets once a month. I am mainly going to meet some pug trainers (Darby desperately needs to learn grown up behavior and to meet people that can pug sit in their home if I decide to go on vacation.

Have fun at the pug party! Next month Barney and I are going to the MWWG: MidWest Welshie Gathering. We went to our first one two years ago, shortly after I got him. It was so much fun! Welsh Terriers are a pretty rare breed so it was a treat to see so many Welshies in one place (there were 16 Welshies, plus one Sheltie and one schnauzer at the party. People came from all over the country, plus Canada and Mexico. Of course some of the people who live farther away were unable to bring their dogs but they enjoyed meeting everyone else's!) Last year it was out of state so we were unable to go but it is back in the Chicago area this year.

The pug party was okay. It was cute to see like 50 pugs running around. My boyfriend predicted mine would be the craziest though and we would be running around after him to keep him out of "trouble". How right he was!!!! Darby was the ONLY puppy there (he's still only 6 months and DOES NOT listen). He was fine for most of the time and then he ran away and jumped on a pug that was lying down with one of those metal things on wheels because it had something wrong with it's hips and he kept running into people's pictures. At that point, I said "we better get out of here" so we left.............

Oh wow! What a cutie!!!!And I love her name too!!! My boyfriend wants to get a black pug. He and his family just had to put their dog to sleep a couple weeks ago so he thinks that it will be good timing to get another doggy. But dealing with puppyhood, that's going to be all him. My Darbs is just now finally getting to be housebroken and to the point that I can trust leaving him alone uncrated for a "few" hours. They are so cute when they are pups but boy, it is A LOT of work!!!

Puggies!

I adore pugs! I rescued a little pug mix, Leonard, right before Christmas. My sister works at a vet office and a woman came in there with himand said "Something is wrong with his back leg, I don't want him anymore so put him down." My sis knew I was looking for a small dog since I live in an apartment and called me right away.
His back leg is a little underdeveloped but with all the exercise he gets from me he's doing prefectly well. He's the sweetest and cutest little man in the world.
I just hate people who just because they can't care for an animal or don't want the responsibility always think the answer is to put the animal to sleep. I love my little Leonard and wouldn't give him up for the world.

P.S.
There is a pug rescue website here in Alabama

I agree. Having an animal is very expensive. I took my pug for his yearly checkup, shots, and all that. It was $244.00. I am getting some of the $$$ back since I have insurance but it is still expensive to come up with up front. I have 2 cats, also. Recently one of them got a UTI and needed to go to the vet twice. I don't have insurance for him and with all the visits and antibiotics, it was also over $200 for the care. If you don't have the savings or a credit card, I don't recommend getting a pet. I think I started a thread awhile back about the pros/cons of having a pet. I think many people need to be educated on this before they get one. I love my pets but they can be very burdomesome at times, but I made the decision to get them, so I need to deal with them. It's my responsibility and no one elses, and "giving them up" cannot be an option. That's like saying, "Oh my child is sick, I am going to give him away".
