Well, this is certainly an interesting topic. I'm a Music major myself. I've been a singer ALL my life (I used to be called Mariah (in case anybody cares) until I completely stopped singing ANYthing secular and instead sing only for the Lord

).
Of course I write poetry and literature and other things, too. But this Music degree will be my 3rd degree, and it will be my 2nd Bachelor's degree as well. It's ironic, because I started in Music ten years ago. I had a scholarship and everything and HATED it with a passion. What was expected of me, I simply did not want to pursue. After getting a Bachelor's degree in Psychology back in 1995 (science), and a Master's degree in Public Policy & Administration in 2000 (corporate world), I was left wondering what I could have done with Music if I had stayed in it. Music is the only field I was actually CALLED to, and I went back to undergrad school to pursue it JUST to please God and to see if He would use me just as much as He has in the past. Sure enough, I've been blessed, and I'm being even MORE blessed each day I stay in Music. I was just recently approached to do a guest solo on a CD for a group that has just recently signed with a national recording label. The gentlemen who came to me are people I work with everyday. One told me it was the most difficult song on the CD. When I asked why did they ask ME to do it, he said, "Because you're the ONLY one around here who can handle it." God is opening doors left and right for me right now. Secondly, after thinking that the other two degrees would go to waste, He showed me that my Psychology degree qualifies me to work in Music Therapy, which is a new science gaining lots of interest these days; and my Public Policy degree qualifies me to become an advocate for keeping Music in public schools. I think this is the reason they call it "the LIBERAL arts" because so many disciplines, no matter how distrinct they are, can be linked interchangeably. So, I'm blessed, ya'll. (Sorry for the long post.)
