Something I Have Noticed...
It seems that all my SF's here are Supa-Duper SF's.
When I say that I mean that you all seem to be dreaming sooo BIG. You are interns for huge companies, in law offices, big gov't jobs, and other 'important' jobs. I mean I have confidence in myself and everything, but I want to know if there are any SF's out there that don't want to work for Fortune 500 Companies and the like. Where are my musicians, singers, artists, dancers, teachers, librarians, social workers? |
Hey POP!!!
Well I have NOOOO desire to work in Corporate America. I would like to go into athletic administration, (Professional or intercollegiate) but this is looooong off in the distance and I must pay my dues first. So I will be content with my teaching job or whatever else my degree in Kinesiology takes me. Having those other types of jobs (no offense to anyone who is pursuing them you have my highest respect) bores the hell out of me. If it aint related to Sports Medicine ro Athletics I can't dig it. Besides I cant wait to get back to my students...!!!!!! They keep me on my feet. BTW way POP I know I told you I needed a new hobby and I think I will bring my musician side of me back out. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ Speak your mind even if your voice shakes... You should know I'm not feeling the corporate america thing....
Where I work now is teaching me that everyday. I'm happy with helping folks. |
wanting to work for a fortune 500 has nothing to do with being "supah dupah"...it takes just as much...if not more tenacity to make it in the arts...because your job is not based on brains...but physical appearance and talent...and often people assume if you have the latter you are lacking the first...to answer your question though...no...i don't want to work for a fortune 500... http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/celestialblues/imani.html

Poplife, you are not alone.
I'm here, working hard every semester to get about ten different degrees in ten different disciplines, all in the school of education. Give me hard-headed kids who need direction, over hard-headed adults who won't take direction, any day of the week. |
Dang Celestial, I went to your site and was like this sister looks like Erica Badu. I bet your crib is filled with incense, wine and candles (such a freaky scene-per Rick James)Cool.

Meeks, may I email you? I want to give you a comment about your major and "dream job" if I may. I work in the HR/Job Center dept. for my university.

My philosophy in life is get in where you fit in. If dancing and singing are your bag, go for it. Someone will always look at you, your life, and your career with "awe" as well.
The environment doesn't matter (IMHO); what does matter are your skills, your talents, and the time and effort in which you use them. We all dream "BIG" in our own ways everyday and some of us actually do "BIG" in all ways, great and small. While I've earned a doctorate, worked in media, higher ed, and the fed govt, I don't considered my career track(s) big or small-- as compared to others. I consider my track to be "me, pNc". Plain and simple. |

i feel you...regardless of what it is...you should always follow your heart and work in a field you enjoy first...and that will pay the bills second...not everyone is able to do that...but it is a good feeling to be able to do what you enjoy and get paid for it... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Well I am a Junior Elementary Education major. I love working with kids because they are real. Plus with those big companies you can get laid off without motice. At least with teaching you can get tenure. I love the flexible schedule of teaching. SUMMERS OFF. Perfect to me. I love being able to do my own thing. I can creative my own lessons and if I want to change something it is on me to do something. As long as the kids are doing well on their standardized tests my boss will not bother me none.

I wouldn't say I am a supa-dupa SF. B/c we are all great in our own special ways. As for where are the dancers, etc...
I have been dancing since the age of four, and I am quite good truth be told. But I know that dance will not do it for me alone. I am a Political Science and Mass Communications with a concentration is Print major. I plan to go to law school with and emphasis on Corporate Law. With my mass comm degree I plan to write my way through Law School. I am the sport's editor for my school's paper and I love analysing political dealings. I hope to secure an internship with the legal staff of Microsoft, I have already completed one with my town's newspaper. With all my money I know I will make one day, I hope to open the "Starz Dance Company", this company will have it's own academy, with an emphasis on classical ballet, and comtemporary dance techniques. This studio will be for children who are talented and who would normally not have the opportunity to be artistically challenged on an elite level. I know this was long but, I had a lot to say. ------------------ Discretion is Key Learn it, Live it [This message has been edited by reddnhott2020 (edited August 02, 2001).] |
