If you ever feel as if you're being stalked, one of the best resources for protecting yourself is through your local Women's Shelter. They deal with it on a daily basis. They may also recommend that you take a personal protection course, which will give you a LOT of tips on avoiding a stalker.
A lot of the advice (cell phone, motion detector, cameras, mace) is very sound. Just to add a few: when you answer the door or phone, always call out to an imaginary person, "I'll get it" or something. Stalkers don't like people who have backup. Take different routes home from school or work each day - don't develop any patterns (Tuesday means she comes home through the Quad...) - you don't have that luxury. Call the police each and every time you have a run-in with this person, and if he does get crazy, get a Protection Order (every state calls them something different) and tell your neighbors & local police that you have one. Get the word out that you know he's there, and you will not tolerate it, even if it means shooting him or having him jailed - and mean it!
Good luck - it's a hard and arduous process, but the peace of mind it will buy you is well worth the price. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. My stalker gave up, once he heard I was armed.
