Yeah, the GPParents have some money, but they sure as heck aren't sharing much with me.

People in college used to give me shit about this too. My parents paid my necessities, but I was on my own for spending $$$...most people didn't seem to understand this.

When my friends and I go out and get kinda sloppy drunk, everyone acts like we're these alcoholic, out-of-control sluts......yet when the guys I know get all piss drunk, everyone's like, "Hell yeah man, you rock!!!"

Double standards suck.

People automatically assume I'm a bitch/heartless which really isn't true. Because of my sense of humor, they get defensive and think I'm saying something about them before they even hear what I have to say.

And for other reasons I can't figure out, all my good friends say that they hated me when they first met me, b/c I was "intimidating/snobby/stuck up." Also hurts, b/c I'm usually EXTREMELY intimidated by people, especially girls.
This sounds VERY much like me.
I'm shy but I have a sharp tongue. I can be pretty sarcastic. And I've had so many ppl tell me they thought I was a snob until t hey got to know me.

ETA:
My parents pay for school, rent, etc BUT I also feel the need to work so that I can reduce whatever they're paying. It's a lot. SO people ASSume I'm rich. It's not that I'm richer than anyone, it's just my family's priorities are somewhat different because of our culture.

In addition, I guess I'm somewhat prissy so people seem to think I'm an airhead. Ummm - how about NOT - I have a degree in computer science and I'm getting my Master's now thank you. Because I like to shop and talk about clothes does not mean that's all there is. I do happen to do fashion design so CLEARLY you will hear about clothes. I refuse to apologise for being a girly girl. In the same vein, I won't hesitate to put furniture together, paint a house etc. I just don't care for sports. SO SUE ME!!!!!

This part is a good thing somewhat. I'm young so when people find out, they tend to respect me more because I'm already in grad school. Funny thing is I know a lot of people like me (it's because of where we were raised). Bad part - people think I must be dork if I'm my age and have a degree in Computer Science. That is until they meet me.

When they do meet me, they're shocked that I had any interest in CS.

Most people think I'm a pushover. And I am. I always get asked to do the things no one else wants to do. And I do them. Maybe I'm too nice.

Yeah, me too.

...and because my parents pay for everything dealing with school/sorority. I have a job for spending money. I'm not a spoiled brat. My parents just happen to have the money to support me through college!!

Actually, and I probably shouldn't admit this, but I'm almost two years out of college and the parents still help out--a little. They pay for my groceries and cell phone, sometimes miscellaneous other things such as when my car needed a $200 repair......I do work full-time, but as an entry-level journalist working in Appalacia, I don't get paid squat. But some of the people I know from lower-middle backgrounds whose parents can't afford to help out at all really think I'm a rich, spoiled brat. Oh well.
