Soror, this is true, but as ladygreek said, Jasmine really hasn't aged very well. The pic that CT4 posted is actually a good pic - it doesn't show her "aging" much.

Try this link - hopefully you'll see what we're talking about.

Ok, JG looks a little hard because her head is tilted at an angle or maybe she was making a facial expression, but yall had me thinking she had "hunchback-like" qualities. I thought she looked alrright.

In the pic CT4 posted, she looks like she needs a steak or two, but other than that...

Phrat, I'm sorry - sistahgal looking a little wrankled! That's not from tilting her head or facial expression.

I realize it's been 10 years and then some since we saw her in "A Different World", and yes, we expect to see her age some, but she's on the accelerated fast track!

And yes, she could use some garlic bread and a loaded potato with those steaks!

LOL-That's only a seven year difference. I am five years older than my sister and I look younger. So, that wouldn't make that much of a difference, but Jasmine looks much older.

I have also noticed how much heavier her eye makeup has become when she is in a movie or TV show. That's an indication, too.

She looks as if she as if she has lost weight. I saw her on a show a little while back and she had packed on quite a few pounds.

I'm still going with an unknown to play Lena. Oh and I think Lena is biracial once removed--if you know what I mean.

Does anyone think Ms. Horne is being a tad bit unreasonable concerning her reaction and decision of refusing to cooperate if Janet Jackson represents her?

I'll admit Jasmine hasn't aged that well ....but she'll be on TV and the cameras can make her look 20 if necessary

What about Troy Beyer on Victoria Rowell? I'm sure they can lighten Victoria for the role and she is a very pretty actress

I think of it this way:

Lena Horne started up in a time when it was difficult for black ppl to get roles and be respected generally. Now that it is considerably easier (although we're not all the way there yet), she probably sees "boobgate" as an affront to all the struggles she and others like her endured to gain respect.

So coming from someone like her, I might not see it as being unreasonable.

If we're talking 20 years ago, yes. But I think that if the movie shows Ms. Horne from her beginning, a younger actress is better.

Nope. I think anyone who is having their life portrayed has the right to be concerned about who is playing them. Well...except a serial killer, etc.

WHy am I laughing at this, like Richard Ramirez is in jail saying "Uh-uh, Johhny Depp as me...what an insult." I thought it was funny but I digress...

I agree that Lena Horne has the right to determine who should play her...period.

How about the usual suspect..Halle? Are we sick of her?
