I am still looking for a full time job and I am starting to feel frustrated and a little sad. I know that I am smart and I should be out there working. I want to so bad. If I had the money I would start my own business.

I just read a bulletin from Wendy on myspace that our Sister Neddie from the Theta Upsilon Chapter at the University of LaVerne passed away this morning.
I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but they were selling blue ribbon pins with her name on them at LTS this year - to raise money for (I believe) the leukemia-lymphoma society.
Let's keep her family in our thoughts and prayers, as I'm sure this is a very hard time for them right now.

Thank you Beth for posting this.
Neddie was a truly amazing young woman and I feel lucky to have shared the time that I did with her. She showed a level of strength that is not often seen in a 20 y/o. Even as the leukemia progressed she did all she could to be with her sisters. She was there for back to school retreat, Fall initiation, bonfires and lunches. I am grateful for her efforts to be there because while it helped her at the time to be with those she loved, it helps me now as I remember her the way she deserves to be remembered. Strong, loving, funny, open minded, compassionate, living life on her own terms even as she left us.
The chapter had ordered more pins sold at LTS and I am sure they will order more when those are gone. The money raised will be donated to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society in Neddie's name.
Thank you to everyone who has offered their thoughts and prayers. For the chapters in SoCal, thank you for your support. It is greatly appreciated. Information for the services will be sent out through email and, most likely, myspace.

A Sad Day in Phi Sigma Sigma History
A Sad Day in Phi Sigma Sigma History
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Sisters,
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Past Grand Archon Jeanine Jacobs Goldberg.
Jeanine graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1960, where she served as archon of Phi Sigma Sigma's Nu Chapter. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Jeanine was a tax lawyer and partner at Tyre, Kamins, Katz & Granoff. Her areas of practice included business, succession, estate tax planning, controversy work against local, state and federal taxing agencies, and benefits planning. She began her professional career as a trial lawyer with the United States Department of Justice. Jeanine was active in multiple bar associations and foundations. She is a past president of the L.A. Women's Bar Association and the immediate past president of the Beverly Hills Estate Counselors Forum. She was also a leader of the Harvard Law School Alumni Association, having co-chaired the 1999 celebration of 45 years of women at Harvard Law School.
Jeanine's rich Phi Sigma Sigma legacy includes service as grand archon, Grand Vice Archon administration, Foundation president and National Panhellenic Conference delegate. Among Jeanine's greatest achievement for our Fraternity is the creation of the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation. Jeanine has been a loving sponsor of the Jeanine Jacobs Goldberg Scholarship, established in her honor by Phi Sigma Sigma upon her retirement from Supreme Council. The scholarship is awarded to a sister who is attending graduate/law school and who exhibits high academic achievement and unselfish dedicated service to Phi Sigma Sigma. Jeanine's contributions have also been recognized by the University of Pennsylvania. To commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the founding of the first Greek letter organization at the University of Pennsylvania, the institution named Jeanine one of its 10 most outstanding alumni over the system's history.
To many generations of Phi Sigma Sigma sisters, Jeanine was a trusted mentor, advisor, leader and friend. She led the Fraternity through the challenging times of the 1970s, and worked tirelessly to ensure the future of Phi Sigma Sigma when the future of Greek life was in jeopardy. She was a brilliant leader and had a warm and wonderful sense of humor. The SHMOO (Suffering Husbands Martyred on Occasion) award, honoring Phi Sigma Sigma husbands who support their wives' dedication to the Fraternity, is but one example of her warm humor. Her late husband, Jerry, was the founding SHMOO and supported and encouraged her in all of her sorority and civic activities. In word and in action, Jeanine truly represented the ideals of Phi Sigma Sigma. She mentored so many who are forever indebted to her for her caring and selflessness that knew no end. She will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, February 3, 2006, at the Tanach Chapel, Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California.
Traditionally, flowers are not part of a Jewish funeral or rituals of mourning. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a contribution to the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation in Jeanine's memory.
I know you all join me in keeping Jeanine's family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time.
In our bond,
Sandy Grossman Grand Archon

A sister (and CKA for Delta Epsilon) emailed today (and called me Tuesday). She gave birth to her second child, a son named Finn Bradford, on Monday morning (March 6th).
Finn wasn't doing to well and he passed away this morning. I wish I could be there for her, but it's good to know the chapter and other sisters are there for her even when I cannot be.
