I know they were all lovely ladies but I wouldn't name my kid after them. The only ones I'd maybe consider are Alice or Mary. The rest sound like a 80-something year old's name.
What about Leigh? I like that name.

This is kind of random but my dad's fraternity house in college had a dog and on its collar it said "I belong to Kappa Sigma" and gave their number and address. Well, he got lose one day and they got a phone call saying "Hello, Mr. Sigma--we found your dog".
I just always thought that was funny!

Well AEPhi's founders are:

Helen Phillips Lipman
Rose Gerstein Smolin
Rose Salmowitz Marvin
Stella Strauss Sinsheimer
Ida Beck Carlin
Augustina "Tina" Hess Solomon
Lee Reis Leibert

Of those I really like Stella. Rose and Lee (though its not my preferred spelling) aren't that bad either.

That was her maiden name (I think) so I didn't think of that. Leigh isn't bad either.

That is interesting about one of AEPhi's founders being a Stella - as noted before in this discussion one of AOII's founders was a Stella as well - Stella is one name i would consider naming my daughter if we have another girl - our daughter now is Isabella Rose and we call her Bella Rose - so bella and stella would be cute together....

My first born girl will be

Eleanor Dorcus (Pond)

One of our members that pledged last year has a 7 year old daughter named Hannah and I just have to think that her grandmother (who was a DG) had something to do with that.

I've never thought about naming my children after DG but I have thought about the rooms. Hannah dolls for my daughter and Anchors for my son.

But I do have a few options if I need them.....

Mary
Eva
Anna
Hannah

were the Founders of Alpha Delta Pi. If I was going that route, I'd probably go with Sophronia & really mess up the kid's life!

I personally would go for Octavia, but I don't think my fiancee will go for that.

D'oh! I just realized that I can't name my kids after any of AEPhi's founders!

It is Jewish tradition to name a child for a deceased relative, but only to use the first letter of the relative's name. For instance, you might name your child Jennifer after her grandfather Jacob. (You can cross genders.)

I had a grandmother named Helen and my husband has a grandmother named Rose, so there go three of the founders. As for the other four, they don't share any initials with any of my or my husband's relatives.

Fortunately there aren't any G's either, so my future offspring don't have to worry about being named Giraffe after all

Actually, I've always loved that for a middle name. Nice and subtle, too

I thought of this thread when we went to Eckerds. The convenience store next door had this on their street sign

"BUD MILLER COORS"
