When I've gotten pink and whites filled, they fill both pink and white. I used to work at a salon so hearing about them not filling the white is kinda weird.

The only difference I've noticed is when I go to a salon to get them done where the price is higher, and when I go to the cheap nail places (ex: the mall nail places). Either was is ok but you really have to be careful of where you go.

Ladies,

Please do NOT get acrylic or gel nails! If you're going to get your nails done and what not, get fiberglass. It's more gentle on your real nails and the "glue" that's used is much cleaner than what's used in gel and acrylic nails. The fiberglass nails do not promote fungus or damage to the nail. Very little filing is done to the nails. Also, when you want the nails to come off, there is no indention in the real nails like there is with gel and acrylic nails. You use nail polish remover with acetone to get the fiberglass nails off.

I know you've always heard of those people's real nails getting fungus or literally falling off the individual's hands. Well, since the fiberglass doesn't promote such goings-ons, you won't have to worry about that.

Yes, the fiberglass is a tad more expensive (but just a tad), the fill-ins are the same amount as gel and acrylic nails. I get the fiberglass and would prefer paying a little more for beauty than paying a whole lot for treatment for nail fungus and/or what not.

I don't think fiberglass is available everywhere, cuz I know for sure it's not available anywhere near here.

AND as far as the fungus thing, if you keep up with your nails you don't have to worry about getting fungus. Plus if you go somewhere that is clean, the chance of getting fungus is pretty much 0.

I've been getting acrylic since 1999. The longest time I've gone without acrylics on is prolly a few days. I HAVE NEVER HAD A FUNGUS PROBLEM. The only problem I've ever had was a broken nail here or there because of my own fault.

One of my friends got the fiberglass nails and was not happy with them. Not sure if it was the look/the feel, or both... It may be worth a shot, but the place I have a gift certificate to does not do them- but thanks for the advice

I don't think I've ever heard of fiberglass nails. I may have to investigate this.

hmmm I think if you ask the people for fiberglass nails they'll do it but I am not sure. Please try them. The lady that does mine does an awesome job. YOu have to get the right person to do the fiberglass if they're going to look right. They feel very natural on your hands and they can use your real nails. They just put a fiberglass strip across the real nails. The fiberglass nails made my nails much stronger and actually grow! I had gel nails and hated them. They made my nails weak and brittle. Whenever they all got off, my nails would want to bread off in the quick. shudder!

I have had acrylics for over 3 years and I have NOT had a problem at all. I have a regular salon, but when it comes to taking off and getting a new set, I go elsewhere. Another shop charges $5 for taking off if you are getting a new set...saves me $10. Other than that I go to my regular salon

I usually get a light color with airbrush

Are fiberglass nails widely available? I've been trying to grow my own nails. but once they get to a certain length, they start to peel.

To be honest, I don't like the artificial look of artificial nails, but I want to have pretty hands.

I've NEVER heard of the fiberglass nails, and I'm in the DC area. Knowing the people of the area, it would probably catch on if they did have them available. One thing that's good about nails is that once YOUR nails grow our enough, you cna take off the tips and they can put a gel overlay over your own nails (the same gel they use for gel nails at the ned before you bake), that way your nails will grow and not break. Plus I think if you JUST use the gel, you won't get the half-moon dents in them.

I just get natural colored tips, my nails are natually really pink and with gel, they look really good. But I'm broke most of the time, and can't keep them up like I'd like.

A lot of places now are giving personal nail kits to prevent bacteria and fungus exchange between customers. PLEASE GET THIS IF IT IS AVAILABLE!!! And if your nails begin to raise a little, GET THEM TAKEN OFF so fungus won't grow up under them.

But, I'd wait until school starts, for when you'd need them most.

Hey all! I merged an old acryllic thread with this one! The old one also talks about some of the disadvantages of wearing acryllics.
