I have a few comments on this topic. One, I'm with jazbri. Later for that "someone didn't get their needs met" crap. If you (not anyone in particular, ya see, just the general you) are not happy, then STEP. Evidently you are happy enough to try and stay in the relationship and cover your a$$. If you want to stay, then you need to talk. If you don't want to talk, then WALK. And that whole "boys will be boys" garbage, later for that, too. I am so tired of women making 'excuses' for some of these men, and them making 'excuses' for themselves. Men cheat, they are being men. Women cheat... yall know how it goes. Whatever.
On another note, I have a question. In this thread, we have been discussing marriage, primarily. What about just plain old relationships? I mean, aren't relationships the prequels to marriage? Should you work any less hard at salvaging a relationship as opposed to a marriage? (This is not a rhetorical question.)
I would never cheat. I'd just as soon say good-bye than hurt someone I supposedly care about. It's not worth it. I could never knowingly make a decision that I know is going to hurt someone I love. Never. And what's worse, it's karma. Everything you throw out in the universe comes back to you. I'm straight on that.

Damn, Damn, Damn,
Let me just put it out here. I cheated! Yep, me - but it was several years ago. I just found myself attracted to another lady. When had a thing for a while and then I decided I wanted to be single (please keep in mind I was only 21). I'm not proud of my action but hell this type of thing happens to many people. I'm not saying my needs were not met. I'm just saying I was suduced by her beauty and and and - well you know what I mean.

I am SOOO GLAD someone in Greekchat brought that point up. I remember something a local, yet well-known bishop had to say on that scripture.
His analogy involved cockroaches. If you know, they always come out when it's dark. But when you hit the lights, they all go scattering b/c they have been discovered.
Now they got some BOLD ROACHES, THAT DON'T RUN!!!! They are here to let you know, "I OWN THIS HOUSE!!
But I (the Bishop) learned that some roaches don't change when they see the light. They change when they FEEL THE HEAT!! If you don't believe me, light up a roaches' behind, and see if they don't run!!!
In short, it isn't always the discovery or disclosure of sin that creates change. Sometimes it's the heat and pressure coming from the sin that does the job.
Just my 25 cents.

Well, I agree with everything you stated. And as far as a relationship, I feel one should put just as much effort into it as a marriage, to an extent. Of course that's if you really think you will or could marry that person. I know my boyfriend and I put a lot of effort into our relationship but it's all fun. We definitely are each other's best friends. We watch and attend sports event together, spend hours on end talking about life, careers, and what we expect from marriage, family, children, etc., experience new activities together and so on and so on. And most importantly we always ask each other if there is anything we can do to make the other happier (if we're not already, which we are ) or if there's something we're not doing that we should be doing. The funny thing is we've been together for soooooo long (don't ask ) but I promise it never gets old. A relationship is like anything in life: it's what you make it. If it's worth having, than it's worth working for.

Two things
First I was going to jump into this conversation in a big way but then it turned way too funny for me, I mean with the Keith sweat bit and Patti's husband playing on the other team, talk about ROFLMAO ... so I stopped but then
SECOND I noticed the professor sneak a little something something in there and I wanted to say... in your maturity, could you do such a thing again? I am not asking about the past and I am not accusing you of anything, I myself have cheated in the past, I spoke with a certain someone on Greekchat about that, but I wanted to know PROFESSOR, will you/can you do such a thing again, and if not, how are you sure you won't fall into the trap again?
Oh and by the way, what's up GREEK CHAT - I am back!!!!
Skee Ya

I see this thread has turned into "cheating: right or wrong" and Cheating: could I? would I?
Let me say this....until you have been there, don't say what you would or would not do!! I have a VERY good friend (for real!! a friend!! )who is in the process of picking up the pieces of her marriage because her husband had a one night stand. If most people knew the turmoil they have been through in the past year, they would not say that folks just decide to look the other way. They are both 90s career oriented type people and by her own admission, started taking things for granted. He was working late hours, and so was she and one of his co-workers was there to show him how 'grass can be greener' on the other side. He slipped, now let me tell you, I was mad as a heck when she called me crying and what not and wanted so desperately to tell her to pack her bags and come stay with me (we had had those If my husband even thinks about cheating on me...conversations in the past), but I tried to let her figure out what she wanted to do. She decided to stay. Her rationale was that when she made vows for better or for worst (in front of God and all) that she did not put a stipulation on how 'worst' was 'too worst' and that God does not recognize divorce. Now of course, being the good Christian woman that I am, I wanted to remind her that Jesus gave her an out with adultery (I think it is in Matthew), but I kept my big mouth closed!
They are now trying to work it out, he is trying to regain her trust, and she is not trying to kill him everytime she looks at him. While I hate that my sister had to go through this it tells me a couple of things:
Just 'cause the cheated on mate stays, does not mean they are stupid or looking the other way. In this disposable society that we live in I think it is probably harder to stay than leave!
And ANYONE (yep, including you!) is subseptible to cheating if you don't guard your gate at all times. While I don't distrust my husband because of the actions of another man, I will never say that he will never cheat, we (he and I) just try to do everything in our power to make sure that the ground is not fertile for that kind of activity!

Why hasn't Senator Hillary leave Mr. President Bill-- 'Cuz it's cheaper to keep her...
I ain't sayin' Hillary cain't hold her own, 'cuz she could. But she married Bill back in the day and I know she didn't sign no pre-nup. So Bill would be assed out if Hillary decides to"skait-jacketed" him... And Bill's been waaaay around the waaaayyyy--And back again. I'da kick them b*itches asses for messin' wit my husband like that--but that's just me...
As far as the Rashads go, I never got the feeling that Phyllicia ever truly loved Ahmad. But that's just my interpretation when he proposed to her on TV...
And folxs divorcing left and right these days. I guess that's what the new millennium is all about... Back in the last millennium, folx all tryin' to be Y2K compliant with their relationships and marriages and come to find out the world ain't ended yet... So hey, let's all get our groove on...
As far as morality and marriages--the two really don't go hand in hand on this planet for some reason. I guess folxs cain't handle facing life alone and get married to any ole body--or rather, they wait 'till they "old" and can't have children, efficiently, and they wish they weren't alone--the biological clock explosions. But for some reason, as we get older, at least for women, we get set in out ways and don't tolerate a bunch of chit, but then again...
This idea can go on and on... If I was married, I would be upset if my husband cheated on me. But, then, I might be cheating on him... So I guess I double-standardized the whole thing--I can cheat but he can't??? Would I end my marriage because hotel cheating been goin' on? Well, I've been thru a man that I really cared about gettin' another witch pregnant and havin' a baby. Now, that I'm older, more men have baby's mamma dramas. And If I have to ask, then I don't need to tell myself anything if the man floats that way. So, ummm, with all my preselection qualifiers, I guess, if I did find prince charming, with shiny armor on a white horse off in the sunset...I'd be the old lady in the pumpkin shell shoe and wouldn't know what to do by the cinders and a poison apple, sleeping my way thru life...
