My (much) older brother was ordained as a pastor today!! This has been a long & arduous journey, for him AND his wife. He's been a short term missionary for years (Guatamala, England, Scotland, mostly) but this is seriously an answer to prayer! I'm SO proud of him!!!

(but if he starts preaching at me, I'll remind him that I can take him down in leg wrestling! )

Talking

Well as some of you may have guessed by another post by me I just got a great new job. It's a HUGE increase in pay, there are more days off, better benefits, better hours and the people seem AWESOME unlike my current place of employment ( see job resignation). So this has really been a huge Early Christmas present. I am so excited to start. My 1st day is Nov 17 !

I am really excited...so I thought this would be the place to post it...I just got my scores for the General GREs...(SATs on steroids)...and I did what I thought I would on verbal...I got average...but I got 70th percentile on quantitative...and on the essay part I got a 5 out of 6...the last score is what makes me most excited...I am a physics and astronomy major...so writing has never been one of my favorite things...so doing as well as I did makes me so happy....

How was the concert? I haven't been to one for almost 2 years - Willie Nelson & Phil Lesh. I LOVE Willie Nelson!!

It was a great concert! You can tell he's young when he talks in between songs- he didn't make too much sense. We didn't care for his "banter" but his guitar playing & singing were excellent.

I don't think I could sit through a Willie Nelson concert, but I'm glad you can- it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, doesn't it? Sisters don't always have to agree- we just have to respect each other's choices!

Polarpi, that's fantastic!!!!!! Do you feel healthier, livlier, and dare I say, sexier? Gosh, I'm thrilled for you!!

This may sound odd, but I know SO many people who have gagged at the thought of a Willie Nelson concert - until they got there! He's one of the few musicians who can cross almost any barrier with one song or another. I guess I should confess that, on another message board, Willie is my avatar!

Thanks, honey and t*p! I do feel much healthier and livelier.....and I'm working on the sexier Now, if only the guys would hold up their end of the bargain and notice the new me, too...

Willie was actually at a HUGE country concert here in San Diego last year (he was the headliner), and my mom and I were going to bite the bullet so my step-dad could see him perform, but it was my step-dad who finally said, "Let's get out of here" We were so shocked!

Let's get this thread rolling again!

My news is...... hmmmmmmm........ I am trying to write a conversation workshop for how to extend conversation during FR. Any ideas? I mean, beyond the basics- how do we train our members to talk to the PNMs for 10+ minutes?

I think I said this on another thread, but I honestly feel that everyone should always have a story or two "to dine out on". Basically, it's just a little, 5 minute story that tells something funny, something that you can tell to your pastor as easily as your sorority sister and they all find it funny.

Now, we all know that sorority women DON'T lead boring lives!! Each of you all have a great story in you, it's just a matter of developing it. Once you get it down (the right pauses, the right gestures, etc), it's your for life.

Oh, btw, when did I learn this? When I was in first grade. It's the sign of being a good conversationalist, and it was one of the most important thing I've ever learned. In all modesty, I was once asked to help at the Pref party for a colony, and one of the sisters I just never expected to compliment me told everyone, "Oh, I'm so happy that Honey is here - she can talk to anyone! I don't say that to brag, I say that because every one of you all have it in you to do the same!! Practice!!
