Recs....
...there are three Alum Panhel Associations in the Chicago area who can help with recs like our Alum Panhel Association is doing here in GA. They should have an info session about now to tell interested high school senior women about the benefits of sorority membership and getting recs -- our group will write recs for the women we meet at these sessions.
I tried to see if there were websites for the three Chicago area Panhel associations but could not find links to them on the npc website -- perhaps the alums you already know can find out or try calling or emailing NPC for a local contact -- accd'g to the NPC website, this is the person you can email for info about all Illinois alum panhel associations Peg Crawford -- Pippeg@aol.com
Feel free to email (not PM) me if you need additional help....just click on my profile button below and then once there, click on the Email link...Good luck!

Not to butt in, but I have a pastor friend in Naperville, and either his daughter or his son is marrying the offspring of a Wheaton Pastor! Their last name is Simpson.

That is pretty close!
But my Father-in-law's church (St John Lutheran) doesn't have a Pastor Simpson
Both Naperville and Wheaton are nice areas, eh?

Oh, the people I know are Pastor Mark Simpson, and I think his kids are Christi, Mark, Matthew & Mica. Not so sure about the Matthew, but it would be one of the elder two that's getting married. He was Missions Pastor at my old church (non-denominational), and still does several mission trips a year.
Yes, I love those areas! I'm a kid of the suburbs, and my fiance wants me to move to Chicago. It's been a major - THE major! - problem point in our relationship.
Do you know Concordia University in River Forest? He's SID there.

I am from Naperville. a.k.a. "Where all the houses look the same." Kinda like the song from "Cheers."
But I'm Greek Orthodox. So, I wouldn't know him.

USChica06, it's a small world--I'm Orthodox, too! LexiKD is also Orthodox, but she's the only other GCer that I know about who is. I grew up in the Antiochian Orthodox Church and attend one now, but I have attended Greek Orthodox and OCA churches as well.

LOL, It is, I didn't mean to scare ya! I only know when I have to be back for rush school! Rush'll be over labor day weekend as usual.
Just so you know, GPhiBLtColonel is a GREAT resource. She really helped me when I went through rush last year, and I have a feeling her rec was one of the reasons I got such a warm reception from the Gamma Phi's. To this day, I wish I could have gone both houses, because all the GPhiB's I know are great! But we all end up where we are supposed to go!
She is also right about the panhellenic association recs. That is where I got the majority of mine, and I think it helped. I'm sure you know, though, that they aren't really that big of a deal at USC, but they can't ever hurt.
Also, if you are good friends with anyone currently in sororities outside of SC, they can always write you a letter of introduction.
Most importantly, make sure that you contact Beth Saul at the USC panhellenic office so that you get the summer information packet. Unless you request it, she only sends it to incoming freshman. This will have the nifty rush cd-rom and your application packet. Oh! And make sure to send in pictures that flatter you but that look like you and that are NOT glamour shots.
Good luck!

speaking of pictures
hey lovely ladies,
as for giving pictures to the women writing our recs, can they be non-studio photos? i graduated hs over a year ago, and my senior pics are long gone. i can get someone to take a couple of good pictures of me to use...is that ok as long as they are not just random pics of me doing...something random? what about leftover pictures i have from prom?
you chicas always give great advice, so i figured i'd throw this out at you.
thanks!

From what I've read elsewhere, don't use the prom pictures since you don't usually look like that in real life. Have your Mom take some recent pictures of you so they can recognize your face from them.
